Brad Pitt 'aware and upset' as his and Angelina Jolie's first biological daughter Shiloh drops his last name
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Reports have emerged that Brad Pitt is feeling “aware and upset” about his and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Shiloh dropping his last name.
Sources close to the actor revealed to People that Pitt has been left pained by the decision, as he always wanted a daughter and felt immense joy when Shiloh was born.
Brad Pitt 'upset' daughter Shiloh drops his last name
“He’s aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter,” a source told People on Monday.
Despite being in a happy relationship with girlfriend Ines de Ramon, it seems that the division from his six kids, including Shiloh, continues to weigh heavily on Pitt, with the insider noting, “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”
A second source told the outlet, “He still loves all of his kids tremendously. This whole process has been very hard for the whole family.”
Shiloh filed to legally drop Pitt” from her name on her 18th birthday on May 27, though the change has yet to be officially granted. She is set to adopt the name 'Shiloh Jolie' moving forward, a move that has not gone unnoticed by keen observers.
This isn’t the first time one of Pitt’s children has opted to drop his last name. Previously, his daughter Zahara chose to go by 'Zahara Marley Jolie' and his son Maddox reportedly goes by 'Jolie' on non-legal documents.
It remains unclear when Pitt’s estrangement from his children began, but things took a turn for the worse in 2016 when Jolie filed for divorce and requested full custody of their six children. The divorce was finalized in 2019, but ongoing proceedings continue to keep the former couple in the public eye.
Zahara and Maddox don't use Pitt as their last name, instead using Jolie. Pitt and Jolie have six children together, with a complicated relationship since their divorce in 2016. Their divorce is still ongoing.
Shiloh Pitt 'hired her own lawyer to drop dad's last name amid parents' feud, sources say
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has legally changed her last name. Rumors had been circulating that Shiloh would be moving in with her father, but instead, she decided to make the change to join her sisters Zahara and Vivienne in dropping the 'Pitt' from their names.
According to a source close to the situation, Shiloh took matters into her own hands by hiring her own lawyer and covering the costs herself, keeping her decision hidden from her mother Angelina. The source hinted that Shiloh's choice may have been influenced by past family issues, including alleged abuse and violations of her rights as a minor.
A source told Daily Mail, "Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angie doesn’t know and can’t speak for it."
"But, if you’re asking if this is connected to the abuse history or the violation of Shiloh’s victims rights, yes, that’s part of it," the source added.
The revelation that Shiloh funded the name change herself has led to speculation that the ongoing feud between Brad and Angelina, who share six children together, could escalate into legal battles involving the kids.
Interestingly, Shiloh's younger sister Vivienne has already been credited as 'Vivienne Jolie' in a Broadway production associated with Angelina, while Zahara has also used her mother's last name at public events.
With this latest development, it appears that Shiloh is asserting her independence and making a statement separate from her famous parents. Only time will tell how this decision will impact the already complex family dynamic of the Jolie-Pitt clan.
