LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Seth Meyers took a dig at Donald Trump's tendency to boast about not needing financial support for his campaign, which is starkly different from his current situation as he struggles to meet financial obligations related to his New York civil fraud case, on the Monday, March 25, installment of 'Late Night'.

Seth Meyers takes a jab at Donald Trump's past habit of boasting about his wealth

During his 'A Closer Look' segment, Meyers highlighted Trump's recent social media rant regarding the bond for his civil fraud trial, where he complained that the amount was set high because of the perceived wealth in his bank account.

With his signature wit, the late-night host translated the ex-POTUS' verbose excuse into a succinct message, "I don’t have the money, frowny face emoji."

Meyers noted that the businessman's recent claims about not having money "punctures the central myth of Trump's life and career" and recalled how he boasted about not needing to rely on anyone else's money as "he's very rich" while campaigning for the 2016 presidential election.

The late-night host refreshed the memories of his viewers by digging up some old clips, in one of which Trump is heard stating, "I don’t want their money, I don’t need their money."

In another, the ex-POTUS claimed that he had turned down millions of dollars for his campaign. When a reporter questioned the source of these offers, Trump conveniently sidestepped the inquiry.

Meyers couldn't resist impersonating Trump's bravado, mimicking, "I’m turning down millions of dollars, and I definitely won’t come to regret it."

The comedian astutely observed that the former president's current predicament serves as a cautionary tale against boasting about financial independence while engaging in dubious practices.

Internet reacts to Seth Meyers trolling Donald Trump's past habit of boasting about his riches

Viewers of 'Late Night' didn't hold back from sharing their perspectives regarding Trump's current situation.

One wrote, "When I was homeless, I never asked anyone for even a dime. HOW does a BILLIONAIRE need to ask the struggling, working poor for a few bucks? WHAT NERVE!!"

Another added, "Trump isn't arguing he's innocent, he's arguing he has the right to be a criminal," while a person expressed, "I'm sick and tired of Trump getting preferential treatment by the courts."

Someone else praised Meyers saying, "Seth’s impressions, whether or not they’re getting better*, they are certainly getting more delightfully *chaotic."

An individual opined, "It's absolutely beyond me how anyone could support Trump."

"Please keep showing those clips of how rich he is and how he doesn't want or need any money. Post it often enough and his 'poorly educated' will believe him," declared one more viewer.
