WASHINGTON, DC: Former state secretary Hillary Clinton slammed President Donald Trump's "slash-and-burn" administration and mocked the Signal chat leak scandal in a new op-ed.

The Atlantic's editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, claimed earlier this week that he was added to a secret Signal group chat comprising Trump's top national security officials where Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth allegedly shared plans about an attack against the Houthis in Yemen.

High on the agenda for the allies will be ascertaining how the US intends to influence the trajectory of the war in Ukraine, as the conflict nears the third anniversary since Russia's full-scale invasion. Hillary Clinton slams Donald Trump administration in blistering op-ed

Hillary Clinton blasted Donald Trump's administration in a guest editorial published on Friday, March 28, in The New York Times titled, 'How Much Dumber Will This Get?' per Mediaite.

Clinton stated about the Signal chat leak scandal, "It’s not the hypocrisy that bothers me; it’s the stupidity. We’re all shocked — shocked! — that President Trump and his team don’t actually care about protecting classified information."

"But we knew that already. What’s much worse is that top Trump administration officials put our troops in jeopardy by sharing military plans on a commercial messaging app and unwittingly invited a journalist into the chat. That’s dangerous. And it’s just dumb," she added.

The former first lady's essay aimed directly at what she called the "slash-and-burn" governing style of the Trump administration.

She also accused the administration of undermining US military strength with "a string of self-inflicted wounds", trashing diplomatic relations, and abandoning America’s strategic edge, per the outlet.

Clinton slammed the cuts to federal programs and agencies, such as nuclear and health officials, implemented by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as "dumb".

She said, "The Trump approach is dumb power. Instead of a strong America using all our strengths to lead the world and confront our adversaries, Mr Trump's America will be increasingly blind and blundering, feeble and friendless."

Hillary Clinton targets Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth

Hillary Clinton also targeted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and ridiculed the Pentagon’s "performative fights over wokeness" and their decision to purge tributes to the Tuskegee Airmen and the Enola Gay, per Mediaite.

She called Trump administration's "shredding of our soft power" and "defunding inspectors" watching Iran’s nuclear activity as "dumb", per the outlet.

She said, "Today they are not reinventing government; they’re wrecking it."

The former first lady added, "All of this is both dumb and dangerous. And I haven’t even gotten to the damage Mr Trump is doing by cozying up to dictators like Russia’s Vladimir Putin, blowing up our alliances — force multipliers that extend our reach and share our burdens — and trashing our moral influence by undermining the rule of law at home. Or how he’s tanking our economy and blowing up our national debt."

"If there’s a grand strategy at work here, I don’t know what it is. Maybe Mr Trump wants to return to 19th-century spheres of influence. Maybe he’s just driven by personal grudges and is in way over his head," Clinton added.

She also took a jibe at Trump's past and said, "As a businessman, he bankrupted his Atlantic City casinos. Now he’s gambling with the national security of the United States."

She added, "If this continues, a group chat foul will be the least of our concerns, and all the fist and flag emojis in the world won’t save us."
