WASHINGTON, DC: Voices of concern are growing among House Republicans, who are now demanding answers over the security breach at a Pennsylvania campaign rally, where a gunman tried to assassinate former president Donald Trump.

Investigation is underway to unravel details of the security lapses at the Trump rally held on Saturday, July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania, as Congress members stress the importance of identifying those responsible for the attack.

Trump was speaking at the campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania when 20-year-old Thomas Matthews Crooks reportedly fired at him from a nearby rooftop.

A bullet grazed the top of Trump's right ear before was evacuated from the scene. The former president did not sustain any major injuries.

Crooks was shot by Secret Service snipers at the scene. Though he failed to take out Trump, his bullets killed one rally attendee and critically injured two others.

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn) told Fox News Digital, "I think there are so many questions that need to be answered, and I don't know who is to blame. I don't know what the breakdowns are, I clearly know there were breakdowns. But let's find out who's responsible and then people need to be held accountable."

According to National Republican Congressional Committee Chair Richard Hudson (R-NC), a "major security breakdown" possibly facilitated the shooting.

"One of my initial reactions as I was watching this unfold on television was anger – how could this happen? How can a person with a gun get to a rooftop that overlooks the stage that close to the former president?" he shared with the network, before adding, "I'm no security expert … but I do have some familiarity with rifles and scopes. And that was a very close distance. And the fact that rooftop was available for that shooter, I just can't understand. So you know, I want to hear what happened."

Internet agrees with GOP as leaders demand answers in Donald Trump assassination attempt

Netizens joined the GOP lawmakers in demanding accountability from the security detail of former president Donald Trump after the assassination attempt. Some even claimed that the shooter had help.

"So many questions, so little action," one social media user wrote on X.

"Accountability is crucial. We need a thorough investigation to understand what went wrong and ensure it never happens again," stated another.

"Epstein did not kill himself. The Trump assassin did not act alone," one person claimed.

"Accountability? We need a full investigation into what happened! Too many questions and no answers because the shooter, who would've supplied answers was killed!" expressed another.

"Those responsible should be arrested and put behind jail," shared one individual.
