Hugh Grant says he doesn't 'really remember' Donald Trump after sharing screen in 'Two Weeks Notice'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Veteran actor Hugh Grant insisted that he did not remember much about being in a film with former president and GOP nominee Donald Trump, during his appearance on the Friday, October 4 episode of 'The Graham Norton Show.'
According to People, Grant, 64, went on the show to promote his upcoming movie 'Heretic,' when he made the remarks.
Trump made a cameo in the 2002 film 'Two Weeks Notice' as himself. It was a romantic comedy starring Grant and Sandra Bullock as the lead pair. Grant's character George Wade shared a scene with Trump where they briefly chatted with Bullock's character Lucy Kelson.
Hugh Grant's take on Donald Trump
When host Norton mentioned Trump on his show, Hugh Grant joked that the businessman "always wanted to be in my stuff."
"He played a bit part as himself in a romantic comedy I did with Sandra Bullock," recalled Grant, referring to the rom-com film. "But the fact is that I don't really remember him very well. The night he came, I had a bet with Sandy (Bullock) that I could make the chairman of Warner Bros cry by 9 pm."
"And I was completely focused on that. It's quite a big bet. She didn't believe I could do it, but I did it," he continued, noting that the chairman was "in floods of tears" by 8.30 pm.
"So I'm afraid Donald Trump didn't really register," he added.
Norton further inquired if Trump was nice to the actor, to which Grant replied, "All I remember is that a day or two afterward I got a call to say, 'You've been made a member of Trump National New York,'" which he brushed off.
"I don't remember him greatly as a person," he concluded.
Donald Trump is remembered by director Chris Columbus
Before setting foot in the world of politics, Trump was a media personality in addition to being a real-estate mogul, as a result of his show 'The Apprentice.' He has multiple cameos under his belt apart from 'Two Weeks Notice,' including 'Home Alone 2,' 'The Little Rascals,' 'Sex and the City,' 'Zoolander,' and 'The Nanny.'
During an interview with Insider in 2020, 'Home Alone 2: Lost in New York' director Chris Columbus shared that the former president wanted a cameo for the filming to take place at the Plaza Hotel, which he owned at the time.
"Trump said okay," Columbus shared. "We paid the fee, but he also said, 'The only way you can use the Plaza is if I'm in the movie.'"
"So we agreed to put him in the movie, and when we screened it for the first time the oddest thing happened: People cheered when Trump showed up on screen," he continued. "So I said to my editor, 'Leave him in the movie. It's a moment for the audience.'"
