CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA: Republican senator from South Carolina, Tim Scott, slammed President Biden for considering executive action to address the border problem, citing what he called a "two-tiered standard" and the treatment of former President Trump when he tried to do the same thing in the White House.

During a Thursday interview with Fox News Digital when asked about reports that Biden is weighing executive action to crack down on asylum-seeking, Scott said, "Well, there's no question that there's a two-tiered standard in our national media. The way they cover President Trump versus the way that they use kid gloves to cover Joe Biden. There's no question about that."

He added, "More important, however, is that when we had President Trump in office, we had a sealed southern border. Crossings were around a thousand a day. Under President Biden in December, we had 10,000 crossings on average per day. That contrast should be what the media is covering."

An administration source said Fox earlier this week that, in light of the historically high number of border crossings the nation faces, Biden is considering using unilateral action to limit the ability of migrants to seek asylum. However, this is only one of 'several' proposals under consideration.

Additionally, an administration official emphasized that no final decisions have been made about possible courses of action and that examining policy alternatives does not guarantee that they would be implemented.

A reported possibility under consideration is the use of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, Section 212(f), which gives the president the authority to impose restrictions on certain groups of foreign nationals who are judged "detrimental to the interests of the United States." A federal judge halted Trump's effort to utilize it, and the Supreme judge eventually affirmed the decision.

Democrats and leftist media outlets chastised the former president severely for trying to use executive action to address immigration, branding him 'xenophobic' and 'racist'.

Though some Democrats who lean more progressive have taken offense at the notion of Biden going back to the previous administration's tactics, Biden has not yet received the same intensity of general criticism.

Internet divided as Tim Scott slams 'two-tiered standard'

Internet remained divided as Tim Scott slammed President Biden for considering executive action to address the border problem, citing what he called a "two-tiered standard". A user wrote on X, "Media have their own way of presenting the stories" while one added, "You are right".

Meanwhile, a user stated, "Uh oh! Trump’s main, made man!?"

Whereas one said, "Actually had a basically sealed border." That's a real quote by an actual politician, about the Trump administration."

Another person mentioned, "At the very least they should show the FACTS of the US Economy & Illegals under both candidates."

While one wrote, "Tim Scott is a joke..how about that."

Another person said, "Hyperbole & Propaganda."
