WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Ilhan Omar stood up for President Donald Trump during an overseas trip when a European diplomat began criticizing him, GOP Rep Anna Paulina Luna claims.
Speaking on Patrick Bet-David’s 'PBD' Podcast on Thursday, October 23, Luna recalled that Omar firmly told a Belgian official, “You will respect our president!” after they insulted Trump and other US lawmakers during a House delegation visit.
Despite her political differences with Republicans, Omar’s defense of Trump left many stunned, including host Bet-David, who reacted by saying, “Stop it.”
Ilhan Omar defends Trump during tense EU exchange
During an episode of Patrick Bet-David’s 'PBD' Podcast, Anna Paulina Luna recalled that Ilhan Omar was part of a House delegation traveling to meet with several members of the European Union.
She claimed that during the discussions, one of the European representatives, described as a “total a***ole” from Belgium, began taking shots at the US lawmakers and mocked President Donald Trump, saying he didn’t “respect” them and viewed them as a “joke.”
At that point, Luna said, Omar didn’t hold back. She stared directly at the Belgian diplomat and scolded him, saying, “You might not like what our president is doing, and you might not agree with our foreign policy. But when we’re here, you will respect our president!”
Luna told PBD that the Minnesota Democrat’s defense of Trump “blew me away” and was pleasantly surprising. Her defense of Trump took everyone by surprise, including the host, who reacted by saying, “Stop it.”
Luna noted that she appreciated Omar’s reaction and said it was important to show a “united front” when dealing with foreign leaders, especially, as she put it, when it involves “some j**k from Belgium.”
Omar’s strong response stood out not just because of her political differences with Republicans, but also because the Minnesota Democrat has frequently criticized Trump in the past.
Inside Trump and Ilhan Omar’s ongoing feud
The clash between President Donald Trump and Ilhan Omar has been one of the most unpredictable rivalries in Washington, marked by harsh words and sharp criticism.
Trump on Ilhan Omar: "I think she's a disgraceful person. A loser. It's amazing the way people vote. I know it's people from her area, maybe of the world. They got here and the vote her in. It's hard to believe. But I think she's a disgusting person." pic.twitter.com/0bobeFCdWa

Earlier this month, Omar called Trump an “embarrassing, corrupt liar,” continuing her outspoken attacks on the former president. In response, Trump blasted the Minnesota Democrat as a “disgraceful person” after she reacted to the death of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed during an event in Utah.
On September 25, Trump mocked Omar during a White House event, recalling his conversation with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. “I met the head of Somalia, did you know that?” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “And I suggested that maybe he’d like to take her back. And he said, ‘I don’t want her.’”
The feud had reignited earlier that month when Omar criticized tributes to Kirk after his death on September 10.
She doubled down during a CNN interview, saying, “I’m not going to sit here and be judged for not wanting to honor any legacy this man has left behind, that should be in the dustbin of history, and we should hopefully move on and forget the hate that he spewed every day.”

Despite her ongoing conflict with the president, Omar was not willing to allow foreign officials to speak against him while she represented her country.
