LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent appearance on 'The View,' Jennifer Lopez opened up about her latest project, 'This Is Me... Now,' revealing why she chose to finance it herself despite industry skepticism.

The multi-talented artist shared that skeptics within the industry doubted putting her love life in the spotlight through the album and the accompanying Amazon Original. Undeterred by naysayers, Lopez decided to take matters into her own hands and fund the project independently.

Ana Navarro applauds Jennifer Lopez's creative independence

During the interview, co-host Ana Navarro praised Lopez for her bold decision, describing it as 'power and freedom'. She asked, "Did you ever have doubts about putting your own money there? Did you or Ben have doubts about putting your love life out there this way?"**

Lopez acknowledged that it was challenging for people to comprehend her vision for the project, clarifying that she didn't want to create a standard music video collection or a conventional long-form movie.

Lopez responded, "I think it was hard for people to understand what I was trying to do. It's not -- I didn't want to do videos or a collection of videos. That wasn't the goal, and it's not quite a long-form movie. It's somewhere in between. It's kind of like this meta-musical kind of thing that is like a new thing, and I wanted to do a new thing, and I think a lot of people couldn't understand it."

Facing industry hesitation

Undeterred by the lack of support, Lopez expressed her determination to forge ahead and bring her creative vision to life. She emphasized the desire to showcase something new and exciting, despite the initial skepticism from industry insiders.

The singer, actress, and producer highlighted the importance of breaking new ground and pursuing unconventional ideas in the entertainment industry.

She further explained, "So nobody wanted to finance it, and nobody wanted to put it on their services. Trust me, this is something new and exciting and this and that, and at the end of the day, I was like, you know, I'm just going to make it. I wanted to show them. I'll show them!"

Jennifer Lopez's defiant declaration and industry's approval

When questioned by co-host Whoopi Goldberg if she had doubts, Lopez firmly declared, "I'll show them! I'll show them, and then when I showed them, they were, like, 'Oh, we love that.'"
