‘I’m sorry’: Family of Dallas ICE shooter Joshua Jahn reacts after facility tragedy

DALLAS, TEXAS: A deadly shooting at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas on the morning of September 24 left one detainee dead, two others wounded, and plunged the suspect’s family into shock.
Speaking to the Independent, the mother of 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, the alleged gunman, broke down in tears. “I’m sorry, I can’t talk to you right now,” she said.
Authorities said the shooting began around 6:20 am, when Jahn allegedly opened fire indiscriminately at the facility and at a transport van in the sallyport area.
Police later found Jahn dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the roof of a nearby immigration attorney’s office, in what law enforcement described as a targeted attack. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the gunman fired several rounds before officers responded to secure the scene.
Conflicting reports emerged over the number of casualties, but officials confirmed that one detainee was killed and two others were injured. Details about the victims have not yet been released.
Alleged ICE shooter’s brother denies political motive
Jahn’s older brother, Noah, told the Independent he was still processing what had happened. “I’m still trying to… I’m back and forth with the police, I’m just…” he said haltingly before ending the call.
In a separate interview with NBC News, Noah described his brother as not politically active and said he did not hold specific grievances toward ICE.
He noted that their parents owned a rifle and that his brother was a competent shooter. However, he insisted his brother was “not a marksman, that’s for sure,” expressing disbelief that he could have carried out the killings.
This morning just before 7am local time, an individual fired multiple rounds at a Dallas, Texas ICE facility, killing one, wounding several others, before taking his own life. FBI, DHS, ATF are on the ground with Dallas PD and state authorities.

FBI director shares photo of ‘Anti-ICE’ marked shell casings
Investigators reported finding unspent shell casings near Jahn’s body with the words “ANTI-ICE” scrawled on them.
FBI Director Kash Patel shared a photograph of one of the marked shell casings on social media. “While the investigation is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an ideological motive behind this attack. One of the unspent shell casings recovered was engraved with the phrase ‘ANTI-ICE,’” he said.
He continued: “These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement are not a one-off. We are only miles from Prarieland, Texas, where just two months ago an individual ambushed a separate ICE facility targeting their officers.”
“It has to end, and the FBI and our partners will lead these investigative efforts to see to it that those who target our law enforcement are pursued and brought to the fullest extent of justice,” he added.
According to public court filings, Jahn had no significant criminal history aside from a 2016 felony plea for marijuana possession, which resulted in probation, a fine, and restitution.
Trump links Dallas ICE shooting to left-wing rhetoric
Reacting to the incident, President Donald Trump said he had been briefed on the shooting. “I have been briefed on the deadly shooting at the ICE Field Office in Dallas, Texas. It has now been revealed the deranged shooter wrote ‘Anti-ICE’ on his shell casings. This is despicable!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump targeted Democrats, saying the attacks are “the result of the Radical Left Democrats constantly demonizing Law Enforcement, calling for ICE to be demolished, and comparing ICE Officers to ‘Nazis.’”
He also referenced the recent killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in the post, warning that “The continuing violence from Radical Left Terrorists… must be stopped. ICE Officers, and other Brave Members of Law Enforcement, are under grave threat.”
