DALLAS, NORTH CAROLINA: Vice President JD Vance is holding Democrats and the media responsible for fueling political violence against law enforcement.

His comments came after a deadly shooting at a Texas ICE facility that left two people dead.

JD Vance says Democrats and media are ‘encouraging crazy people’ with false claims

Vance directed his anger at California Gov Gavin Newsom, accusing him of spreading rhetoric that puts immigration officers at risk.

“Here is what happens when Democrats, like Gavin Newsom did, say that these people are part of an authoritarian government,” Vance said in North Carolina. “When the left-wing media lies about what they’re doing, when they lie about who they’re arresting, when they lie about the actual job of law enforcement, what they’re doing is encouraging crazy people to go and commit violence,” Vance added.

The remarks came after the FBI confirmed three people were shot, two fatally, at an ICE facility in Dallas. Officials reported that “anti-ICE” comments were written on ammunition near where the 29-year-old suspect was found.

Gavin Newsom accused of fueling violence with anti-ICE law

Newsom has repeatedly called President Donald Trump’s administration “authoritarian.”

Vance appeared to be responding to Newsom’s recent comments, when the California governor said he was fighting Trump’s “authoritarian tendencies” while signing a new bill banning ICE agents from wearing masks.

“When democratic politicians encourage doxing, when they encourage us to unmask ICE enforcement officers, what do you think is going to happen?” Vance asked.

He added, “You don’t have to agree with my immigration policies, you don’t have to agree with Donald Trump’s immigration policies. But if your political rhetoric encourages violence against our law enforcement, you can go straight to hell and you have no place in the political conversation of the United States of America.”

JD Vance tells Democrats to ‘look in the mirror’ over political violence

Vance said elected officials must be accountable for their words.

“If you want to stop political violence, stop attacking our law enforcement as the Gestapo. If you want to stop political violence, stop telling your supporters that everybody who disagrees with you is a Nazi. If you want to stop political violence, look in the mirror. That's the way that we stop political violence in this country,” Vance stated.

Newsom later fired back online. “No thanks, JD. I will not be going ‘straight to hell’ today,” Newsom posted on X. “Though when I watch you speak I certainly feel like I’m already there,” the governor wrote.

The FBI is treating the Dallas incident as a “targeted attack” against ICE. According to the Department of Homeland Security, shell casings found at the scene carried “anti-ICE” messages. No ICE officers were injured.

“Look, just because we don't support illegal aliens, we don't want them to be executed by violent assassins engaged in political violence either. So we're praying both for our ICE agents, but also for everybody who's affected by this terrible attack,” Vance said.
