WASHINGTON, DC: Conservatives have slammed ABC News for how it covered Wednesday’s deadly shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, accusing the network of minimizing a direct threat against President Donald Trump.

The shooter, 23-year-old Robin Westman, recorded a video manifesto and scrawled disturbing messages on his weapons, including the phrase “Kill Donald Trump.”

ABC reporter Aaron Katersky acknowledged that Trump’s name appeared on the guns but failed to highlight the threat clearly.

Instead, he grouped Trump’s name with those of past mass shooters. This framing outraged conservatives, who believe the report ignored the shooter’s political motives and treated a serious threat with troubling indifference.

A viral video circulating online shows ABC News senior investigative reporter Aaron Katersky delivering an on-air report that has sparked backlash.

In the segment, Katersky stated, “23-year-old Robin Westman was able to leave what police called a video manifesto that they’re now going through to try and establish motive. We’ve also been going through it, and can tell you there are crude diagrams of the church.”

He went on to say, “There are also photos of the weapons, and they include all sorts of writings: the names of past mass shooters, criticism of Israel, the name of President Trump written on the guns.”

Notably, Westman had written “Kill Donald Trump” on a gun magazine, along with other disturbing content.

He concluded, "There are also racial slurs, nihilistic statements, all painting the picture of a disturbed individual who carried out this mass shooting on the first week of school at the Annunciation church in Minneapolis."

Instead of calling attention to this specific threat, Katersky grouped Trump’s name with those of known mass shooters. His omission of the shooter's apparent hatred toward Trump fueled outrage among conservatives, who argue that ABC News glossed over a politically motivated threat in favor of vague commentary.

Conservatives slam ABC News coverage of massive shooting at Catholic school

Conservatives swiftly reacted to ABC News' coverage of the deadly mass shooting at a Catholic school, igniting a wave of criticism across social media.

Donald Trump Jr expressed outrage, asking, “WTF is wrong with these people!???”

Fox News contributor Mary Katherine Ham called the report “so irresponsible” and “an obvious lie,” while her colleague Guy Benson condemned it as “anti-journalism,” accusing ABC of deliberate obfuscation.

"I don’t understand how these fake news networks get away with such blatant lies," an X commenter shared. "Few moments best capture ABC News’ reputation as “propaganda press” better than anchor Aaron Katersky’s misleading coverage of the alleged anti-Christian, anti-Trump Minneapolis school shooter — who Katersky effectively portrayed as a Trump supporter on Wednesday."

UnHerd columnist Sohrab Ahmari joined in, writing, “Again: This is the kind of media dipshittery that turns people away from mainstream outlets and toward the podcast bros and weightlifter-pundits. Colleagues: YOU are creating the very epistemic rupture that you complain about.”

Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle demanded action, tweeting, “ABC should terminate this person immediately.”

Tim Graham, executive editor at NewsBusters, simply wrote, “Out. Of. Context.”

Comfortably Smug, from the Ruthless podcast, responded with one word, “Unreal.”

Another commenter declared, “This is not journalism. It’s naked propaganda.”

One more added, “The narrative industry is not going to course correct. The democrats are not going to course correct. This is the only course. It only gets worse from here. Realize where we are."
