Images reveal Tiger Woods’ SUV flipped in Florida rollover crash
JUPITER ISLAND, FLORIDA: Photos have been released by the Martin County Sheriff's Office following a rollover crash involving Tiger Woods and one more driver. The incident happened on Friday, March 27, on Jupiter Island in the afternoon.
Though images from the scene have shown Woods' Land Rover left flipped on its side, reports have claimed that the golf legend was fine after he struck another vehicle not far from his home. He was also seen using his phone as he stood near a fire hydrant.
Tiger Woods flips SUV while overtaking vehicle, police say
As per Martin County Police Chief John Budensiek, Woods was trying to overtake a truck when the accident happened.
Immediately after the crash, law enforcement officials arrived at the scene as they found Woods showing signs of possible impairment, which led to several roadside tests, including a breathalyzer test. The 50-year-old golfer passed that test but did not give consent for a urine test, following which he was arrested and charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Police say Woods crawled out of passenger side after SUV rollover
Later, in a press conference, Budensiek explained the site of the crash. He said, “The Jupiter Island Police Department responded out there and found a pickup truck pulling a pressure cleaner, and a Land Rover which was rolled over on the driver's door.”
He further shared that after the crash, the “individual driving that Land Rover was able to crawl out of the passenger door of the car and was identified to be Mr Tiger Woods.”
“Our DUI investigators came to the scene here, and Mr Woods did exemplify signs of impairment. They did several tests on him — of course he did explain the injuries and the surgeries that he had, we did take that into account,” he stated.
No injuries reported in Tiger Woods Florida crash, police confirm
The Police Chief also confirmed that Woods did agree to the breath test and “blew triple zeros, but when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test he refused. And so, he's been charged with DUI, with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.”
“In the crash, no one was injured. Mr Woods did not seem to be injured at all, and the other gentleman was not injured. This happened a few hours ago so I’ve given you the information that I have right here, right now,” Budensiek added.
