Inside Joe Biden's luxurious property where he'll move to after White House term ends
WILMINGTON, DELAWARE: Joe Biden must be packing his bags now as his term as the 46th president of the US will be ending in just a few months.
Though the commander-in-chief will move out from one of the most famous homes in the world, he won’t be cutting down on the luxury. The 81-year-old loves real estate and is the proud owner of multiple properties.
In his 2007 autobiography, 'Promises to Keep', Biden wrote, "Even as a kid in high school I'd been seduced by real estate," as per Marie Claire.
Joe Biden expected to move to his Wilmington home
After his term ends, Joe Biden will probably move to his 6,850-square-foot lakeside home in Wilmington, Delaware, which he built after buying the four acres of land in 1996 for $350,000, as per Hello! Magazine.
It features three bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and a swimming pool.
The outlet, citing Zillow, reported that the property is currently worth around $1.4 million. Despite the huge amount, it is still modest compared to other leaders' homes.
For instance, Barack Obama’s Kalorama home in Washington, DC is estimated to be around $8.1 million, while Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Florida is reportedly worth $23 million.
Biden once considered selling the stunning property for his son Beau's cancer treatments. He was, however, helped by Brack Obama, who offered to lend him the money.
This was the home where the FBI discovered classified documents in its garage on December 21, 2022. No charges were brought against Biden based on special counsel Robert K Hur's investigation.
Joe Biden's Rehoboth Beach property
Besides the Wilmington home, Joe Biden also has a house on Delaware's Rehoboth Beach, which he purchased for $2.7 million in 2017.
The three-story building includes six bedrooms and expansive porches. Needless to say, it also comes with a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean.
A sign reading "Beau's gift" hangs on the front of the vacation home in honor of Biden's eldest son, Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015.
Biden had once said of the property, "Throughout our careers, Jill and I have dreamed of being able to buy a place at the beach at home where we can bring the whole family."
He added, "We feel very lucky that we're now able to make that happen and are looking forward to spending time with our family in the place that matters most to us in the world."
Amid intense scrutiny about his ability to serve another term, President Biden isolated himself at his Rehoboth Beach after testing positive for Covid. Soon after, he dropped out of the 2024 race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
