Insider explains Ben Affleck's 'deepest, darkest behavior' that led to his divorce from Jennifer Lopez
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's short marriage came to an abrupt end after the singer-actress officially filed for divorce on August 20.
According to a close source, among many factors, the ‘Batman’ star’s "mood swings" contributed to the drastic move from his estranged wife.

The source told People, "The truth is there was a great deal of love but also unfortunately what became clear were Ben's erratic mood swings that he couldn't hide from the press, as much as he tried to.”
"You could see the erratic behavior, the giant mood swings” it continued.
The actor would go from “being incredibly happy and warm — the best light that emanated from him” to exhibiting “the deepest, darkest behavior.”
“I think he was signaling a message to the press. But yet participating,” the source added.
The separation date mentioned in the court document is April 26, which means the pair left no stone unturned to fix their marriage.
“They were trying to work through it, but when the mood swings and the big highs and big lows informed a toxicity that was pervasive, no one can help you — you have to help yourself,” the insider explained.
“But I would not be so bold to say there isn't love — of course there is. The world was rooting for them, but who he said he was and who he turned out to be were two different people.”
Lopez and Affleck, who have a history together, rejoined in 2021, almost 17 years after their initial split.
The pair dated in the early 2000s and were set to get married in September 2003. However, they called off the wedding just a day before the ceremony.

A different source spilled that the ‘Gone Girl’ actor let Jennifer Lopez make the final move as an act of “compassion.”
It explained, “Ben knew Jennifer was going to file for divorce. It was not a shocker to him at all. In fact, he let her have this,” per Daily Mail.
"Jennifer was more concerned about how [the split] will affect her career, what fans will think and what the press will write,” the insider further revealed.
