Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had 'planned' all details of divorce before she ‘pulled the trigger’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: While Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s separation and subsequent divorce filing may come off as sad news, it certainly wasn’t shocking!

Friends of the estranged couple recently revealed to Us Weekly that the divorce filing was “planned.”

The insider dished out that Bennifer (as they are lovingly called by their fans) “had gone through all the details” of their split before finally deciding to pull the plug.

The insider recently revealed to the outlet that the couple went through all the details before Jennifer Lopez finally filed for divorce at the Los Angeles County Court on August 20. 

Shedding light on the 55-year-old ‘Jenny From The Block’ singer’s “planned” divorce from the Oscar winner, the insider shared, “They had already agreed to these terms before she filed.”

The insider continued, “JLo finally pulled the trigger because that was their agreement that she would file, and she was the one who ultimately made the decision.”

While the couple’s marriage came to an exactly at the end of two years, with the ‘Atlas’ actress filing the paperwork on the second anniversary of their traditional marriage, the question of the division of their property also came into the question.

The source, however, noted “There’s really nothing else to divide,” before adding, “One person doesn’t want more than the other. They both came in with significant assets of their own.”

Lopez, who boasts a net worth of about $400 million, waived spousal support from her estranged husband while filing the divorce papers, per Daily Mail. ‘The Mother’ star further asked the judge to deny Affleck, who has an approximate net worth of $150 million, any spousal support during the filing. 

The songstress filed the paperwork without an attorney and listed their date of separation as April 26, 2024. She, however, did not mention the existence of any prenup and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. 

Two years after gushing about legally taking Affleck’s last name as her surname, the ‘Maid in Manhattan’ star petitioned to change her legal name back to Jennifer Lopez. Following her marriage to Affleck, the ‘On the Go’ singer legally debuted her name as Jennifer Lynn Affleck, citing it as 'romantic' to be Mrs Affleck.

Lopez and Affleck, who have a history together, reconnected in the summer of 2021, almost 17 years after their initial break up. The duo dated in the early 2000s and were set to get married in September 2003. However, they called off the wedding just a day before the ceremony owing to immense media galore. 

Following the postponed wedding, they briefly split before getting back together again. However, in January 2004, they separated and went on to marry their respective spouses. While Lopez was married to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, Affleck remained married to his ex Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018. 

After reconnecting in the summer of 2021, the duo eloped to Vegas in July 2024, followed by a lavish ceremony in Affleck’s Georgia estate on August 20, 2022.

Earlier this year, Lopez also released a three-part project named ‘This Is Me…Now’, accompanied by the film ‘The Greatest Love Story Never Told’ celebrating their love for each other.
