Insider reveals Secret Service is 'well-versed' in handling girlfriends amid Barron Trump dating rumors

WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump's youngest son Barron Trump is making headlines as rumors about his college romance have been doing the rounds. 

The 19-year-old recently wrapped up his first year at New York University, where a fellow student told NewsNation that Barron “has a really nice girlfriend and hangs out with her a lot.”

While the claim remains unconfirmed by Barron Trump’s camp, it has reignited curiosity about how someone under full-time Secret Service protection navigates the typical rites of passage that come with young adulthood, particularly dating.

But according to a political insider, Barron’s security detail doesn’t hinder his social life as much as some might assume.

“He can have a girlfriend as the Secret Service guys are well-versed on how to handle this,” the source told PEOPLE. “Anyone who says being under Secret Service protection would keep him from dating is way off.”

The source even joked that the tales agents could tell would “fill an X-rated novel” by those tasked with protecting America’s first families. 

Barron wouldn’t be the first presidential child to experience romance in the spotlight. From Susan Ford to Chelsea Clinton and the Bush twins, several White House children have had their dating lives subtly shaped by a team of trained protectors. 

Former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager has spoken candidly about her own awkward experiences while dating during her father's presidency. Her now-husband Henry Hager once had to “sneak out” of the White House after staying the night, only to get caught by Secret Service agents.

And when he proposed years later, she recalled on 'Today' that a Secret Service agent was “a couple paces behind me” on a mountaintop. “So it was private… sort of,” she joked, before calling the moment “very weird.”

Barron Trump is attracting interest from girls and blending in well

While PEOPLE has not verified whether Barron Trump is currently in a relationship, sources close to him say he’s made new friends and adjusted well to college life in Manhattan.

“He is no slouch and attracts the attention of girls,” one insider shared. “And not just at college. He had female friends in high school in Florida. He gets along well with his female friends.”

Another source, whose daughter attended high school with Barron in Florida, said he didn’t put on airs. “Barron didn’t hold court and act like he was better than the others,” they recalled. “He was in school and did his thing like everyone else.”

Barron is reportedly shy, polite, and more understated than his father. One insider described him as having “old-school manners,” before adding, “It’s hard to believe he is Donald Trump’s son as he’s more laid back, but he does have some of his moxie in a low-key way.”

As for romance, the same source said that Barron isn’t rushing into anything serious. “He definitely wants to go out in the world and make money. That is more important to him now than anything long-term in the romance department. But he is still young with more school ahead,” the insider added.
