WASHINGTON: Shaye Moss and her mother Ruby Freeman spoke to reporters after a jury ordered former Mayor Rudy Giuliani to pay nearly $150 million in damages for defaming them after the 2020 election.

Talking to the media Ruby said, "Good evening everyone. I am Lady Ruby. Today is a good day. The Jury still witnessed what Rudy Giuliani did to me and my daughter and held him accountable. For that, I am thankful. Today is not the end of the road. We still have work to do."

She added, "Rudy Giuliani was not the only one who spread lies about us and others must be held accountable too. But that is tomorrow's work."

Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss dubbed 'American heroes'

Ron Filipkowski posted a tweet where he dubbed the mother-daughter duo as "American Heroes."

He wrote, "I think it is absolutely perfect that the people who finally stood up to the bully that Rudy has been most of his life and wrecked him financially are Ruby and Shaye. It’s terrible what happened to them, but they are standing up for other victims and are American heroes."

After a four-day trial, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea "Shaye" Moss testified that Giuliani's lies in support of former President Donald Trump's fictitious stolen election claims subjected them to a barrage of violent and racist threats, turning their lives upside down.

The eight-person jury awarded them the sum in light of these revelations.

Addressing the media, Moss said, "The lies Rudy Giuliani told about me and my mommy after the 2020 presidential election have changed our lives and the past few years have been devastating."

Internet reacts to Ruby Freeman's speech

Several people on Twitter dropped their views on Ruby Freeman's speech after the verdict.

A user wrote, "I feel validated being an average citizen who has worked the polls."

Another user commented, "When Rudy asked for 'Trial by combat,' he didn’t count on two incredible and courageous black women throwing him to the mat. Absolutely incredible."

One person wrote, "Giuliani and Trump have been terrorizing innocent minorities with their unfounded allegations for decades in NY. They have decidedly taken their attack roadshow nationwide. Get them both on all pertinent charges including jail time. They have destroyed countless lives."

A user added, "The jury made quite a statement awarding such an incredible penalty against Rudy."
