WASHINGTON, DC: Ben Rhodes, the former deputy national security advisor under the Barack Obama administration, accused ex-president Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner of being engaged in a "level of corruption that we've just never seen" in light of the recent foreign investments in his firm, The Hill reported.

The former Obama aide's allegations stemmed from the latest report by The New York Times, according to which, 99 percent of Kushner's 1.2 billion investments were from foreign sources.

As per the outlet, Middle Eastern nations, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, along with the Taiwan-based Foxconn company's founder Terry Gou, have financed Affinity Partner's $3 billion investment fund.

Ben Rhodes' accusations against Jared Kushner

"I mean, look, this is not subtle corruption that we're looking at," Rhodes said in an interview on MSNBC's 'Alex Wagner Tonight' on Wednesday, April 10.

He made shocking allegations against the former senior advisor under the Trump administration, arguing, "This is a guy, Jared Kushner, who had no expertise, no qualification whatsoever to be in the White House while he was there. He made it his account to work in the Gulf Arab states. He basically helped lead the cover-up for [Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud]. Get him in from the cold after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi."

Rhodes claimed that the $2 billion funding Kushner received from Saudi Arabia six months after his White House role ended was Salman's bid to influence the US foreign policy if Trump returned to the presidency after the election.

"Basically, what we can take from that investment is that in a second Trump term, US foreign policy in the Middle East and around the world will be made entirely with the interests of Mohammed bin Salman in mind," Rhodes added.

Kushner, the husband of Ivanka Trump, focused on Middle East policy as senior adviser to the president from 2017 to 2021.

According to Rhodes, Trump's son-in-law's interest in working with Gulf Arab states was due to the potential payout at the back end. The ex-Obama aide further distinguished accusations against Hunter Biden's foreign business deals to Kushner's $2 billion investment and added, "Now he's got his father-in-law running for president. Right? This is not only unusual, this is unprecedented."

"This is just putting a price tag on American foreign policy. This is a level of corruption that we've just never seen, and it's hiding in plain sight," Rhodes asserted.

However, Kushner defended himself and his firm in a statement to The New York Times, saying they have always followed laws and rules and he could not control what others write or tell about him.
