Internet backs Alyssa Farah Griffin after she tears into RFK Jr for gaslighting in favor of his campaign
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Robert F Kennedy Jr is being accused of attempting to manipulate public perception as he prepares for the 2024 presidential race.
During an interview with CNN's Erin Burnett on April 2, Kennedy responded to concerns about Donald Trump's impact on democracy by suggesting that President Joe Biden "is the much worse threat to democracy." Kennedy alleged that Biden is using the federal government to censor political speech and silence his opponents.
The interview sparked widespread outrage with Kennedy later attempting to backtrack his statement, claiming in a NewsNation interview that he was merely suggesting he could make the argument, rather than stating it as fact.
Alyssa Farah Griffin pens scathing op-ed about RFK's claims
'The View' co-host Alyssa Farrah Griffin ripped into RFK in an op-ed for The Daily Beast calling his claim about Biden "absurd and patently false" and that "it also appears to be personal."
The TV personality claimed, "Kennedy apparently still holds a grudge over his Instagram being suspended in 2021 for spreading misleading public health information after Biden administration officials flagged the material to Meta."
The ABC host said Donald Trump was "notorious" for compaining to social media platforms to get content that he didn't like removed.
Griffin recounted a particular incident when she was in Trump’s dining room in May 2020. The veteran anchor claims "Trump phoned Mark Zuckerberg directly to complain about the perception he was being censored. On a number of other occasions, Trump officials tried to have content critical of the former president removed. There’s a well-documented history of Trump allies trying to have unfavorable content censored."
Griffin argued that RFK's comments however are insignificant when compared to the very real danger that Trump presents to democracy. "Trump literally tried to throw out the results of a democratic election that would have resulted in disenfranchising 80 million American voters," Griffin penned. "He incited an attack on Congress to stop the certification of the election. He attempted to compel public officials to thwart the election. The contrast couldn’t be more glaring," the fiery op-ed reads.
Alyssa Farah Griffin says RFK Jr 'speaking out of both sides of his mouth'
Griffin claims in the op-ed that RFK Jr "is playing a dangerous game." Griffin accused Kennedy of engaging in a perilous strategy aimed at attracting support from both the right and the left, attempting to sway individuals "away from two historically unpopular presidential candidates and speaking out of both sides of his mouth to do it."
The veteran TV host then went on to compare RFK with Trump saying "politicians lying for political gain is nothing new, nor is a politician moderating past extreme positions to appeal to a broader electorate outside of the norm of politics." She slammed tore into the former president saying "he has made an artform out of lying." "Kennedy’s just co-opting the former president’s shamelessness," she said.
Alyssa Farah Griffin calls out RFK's gaslighting
Griffin also blasted RFK for being a vocal critic of vaccines for a long time. Kennedy asserted in a podcast in 2023 that "there’s no vaccine that is safe and effective." In a bizarre claim, RFK also tried to endorse the controversial theory that "vaccines can cause autism." The contentious politician even gloated once that whenever he sees some carrying a baby he warns them “better not get him vaccinated."
Despite Kennedy's very public vaccine skepticism, Griffin says that he appeared before a congressional committee in July 2023 and asserted, "I have never been anti-vaxx. I have never told the public to avoid vaccination." Kennedy was once questioned by journalist Amna Nawaz about his claim that no vaccine is safe and effective, which Kennedy flatly denied, “I never said that."
Girffin goes on to say in the ballistic op-ed, "What’s notable about Kennedy’s gaslighting and real-time pivoting is the why of it." 'The View' host accused Kennedy of trying to strategically position himself to get support from both the Republican and Democratic nominee for president.
