NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Majority leader of the Senate Chuck Schumer informed reporters on Wednesday, January 3, that a border deal had not yet been reached, emphasizing, however, that there has been notable "progress."

He reiterated that the ongoing negotiations are currently "closer than we have been" in previous weeks.

Following this news, Fox News host Laura Ingraham took to X, formerly known as Twitter to blast Schumer. Many X users backed Ingraham and agreed with her as she took a brutal dig at the Senate Majority Leader.

Laura Ingraham claims any deals Chuck Schumer ‘takes is bad for America’

Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham took to X and wrote, “Any deal that Schumer takes is bad for America. No deals and let’s vote in November.”

Ingraham’s tweet presented an article from Politico titled, “Still no border deal ahead of Senate's return, Schumer says.”

In the article, it was reported that Chuck Schumer suggested that negotiators are making gradual progress toward a border deal that could pave the way for providing aid to Ukraine.

Simultaneously, he urged the House to align with the eventual agreement and join efforts in advancing the proposed solution.

The Senate majority leader said, “We need to fix the border. There's virtually unanimous agreement among Democrats and Republicans about that. We just have to figure out how to do it in a way that can get 60 votes here in the Senate and the majority of us there in the House.”

Schumer noted that the Biden administration has been “very closely involved” in discussions over the winter break.

However, despite more than a month of negotiations, the optimism for a deal to materialize by this week appears to be diminishing.

As Congress reconvenes this week, they will face additional challenges, including unresolved tasks such as dual government funding deadlines in January and February, further complicating the timeline for a potential border deal.

Moreover, New York Democrat Schumer refrained from specifying a deadline for negotiators working on a supplemental spending package that aims to link together border security policy with foreign aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

Schumer also did not commit to prioritizing either the government funding legislation or the supplemental spending package.

Senator Chris Murphy, who leads the Democrats in the border talks, expressed the hope that negotiators would have a deal ready to present to members when they return for the session next week.

Schumer said, “I think if the Senate gets something done in a bipartisan way, it will put enormous pressure on the House to get something done as well and not just [going to let] these hard-right people get up and say they're going to let the 30 of them to dictate how the whole country should work.”

About government funding, Schumer explained, “I'm hopeful that we can get a budget agreement soon and I'm hopeful that we could avoid a shutdown, given the good progress we've made. That is certainly not out of the question, as some people have said it would be.”

Republican Senator James Lankford claimed on Saturday, January 6, that the text of an agreement could "hopefully" be ready as early as this week, per Politico.

Internet subs Chuck Schumer an ‘evil man’

Many people on X took a brutal jab at Chuck Schumer following Laura Ingraham’s remarks.

One person wrote, “The Senate's return is marked by Schumer's inability to strike a border deal. This shows his true colors of prioritizing politics over America's safety. Remember this in November,” and another added, “I Vote to remove Schumer, he’s a wicked evil man.”

An X user simply agreed with Ingraham saying, “AMEN LAURA KEEP YOUR  GOOD WORKS UP.” Another also shared a similar thought, “You got that right!”

One more person slammed Schumer, writing, “He's a disgrace! Pathetic,” and another wrote, “Schumer has done so much damage- it’s amazing to me that his blatant underhanded tactics and dishonesty has gotten him so far. ”

The comment further alleged, “He’s one of the worst offenders out there.  The reality is that he and Pelosi led the charge to the lawlessness we’re living through right now.”
