LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent X tirade, Fox New host Jesse Watters accused Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas of engaging in a 'PR campaign' to defend the suspects involved in the tragic Super Bowl parade shooting.

Watters stated, "The Kansas City mayor appears to be on a PR campaign for the suspects who attacked last week's parade. These shooters are getting better treatment in the media than the Covington kid."

Jesse Watters questions silence

The controversy stems from a segment on Watters' show, where he expressed frustration over the lack of information about the shooters, whose identities remained undisclosed five days after the incident.

Watters emphasized that fans had tackled the suspects immediately after the shooting, yet no details had been provided since then. According to Watters, the city cited the suspects' minor status as the reason for withholding information, except for Mayor Lucas, who seemed to be defending them.

"It's been five days since the deadly Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting, and we still don't know the identity of the shooters. Why? Within minutes of the shooting, fans tackled the suspects and held them to police handcuff, though since then, we have nothing. Kansas City says the suspects are minors, so they can't speak about them, except the Kansas City mayor, who is defending the suspects," Watters remarked in the video.

Mayor Lucas defends his position amid accusations

However, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas vehemently disagreed with the characterization of his actions.

"I disagree strongly with how he would describe that situation. I certainly do think this was criminal activity; it was lawlessness, and I think that's troubling. But 'thugs' is a dog whistle in the most classic sense. And I have seen this dog whistle time and again," Mayor Lucas stated.

Undeterred, Watters continued his criticism, suggesting a potential racial bias in the mayor's response.

"One dead, 22 injured, and the mayor is doing PR for the shooters. The mayor just told us more about the suspects than the police have. They are minorities. We don't know for a fact, but if they were White, I don't think the Black mayor would be mad that they were called thugs. Would he prefer a different term? We don't know," Watters asserted.

Public outcry on social media

As tensions rise over Fox Host Jesse Watters' accusations against Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, social media ha become a battleground for public opinion

One user wrote, "The mayor is a coward."

Another added, "Time for a campaign to get a new mayor…asap."

One user wrote, "Why are they so afraid of the truth?"

One replied, "It's time to get rid of the Kansas City mayor, He's just cuddling criminals in order to get votes."
