NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley recently reignited the debate on immigration policy, boasting about her past efforts to tackle illegal immigration while expressing frustration at Congress's inaction regarding the ongoing border crisis.

However, her statements quickly drew criticism, with civil rights attorney Leo Terrell, a big time Donald trump supporter, accusing her of dishonesty and failure.

Nikki Haley's immigration stance draws criticism and polarization

Haley, known for her conservative stance on immigration, proudly declared, "As governor, I passed one of the toughest illegal immigration bills, including statewide E-Verify. It’s pathetic that Congress can’t get together and deal with the border crisis. They need to get in a room and stay there until they reach a solution."

Her assertion highlights her past efforts to implement stringent measures aimed at curbing undocumented immigration within her state.

Nevertheless, Haley's comments did not go unchallenged. Leo Terrell, a vocal critic of Haley's policies, wasted no time in denouncing her remarks. In a scathing response on social media,

Terrell branded Haley a "habitual liar", writing on X/Twitter, ".. @NikkiHaley is a habitual liar. She always has an excuse for her failures. A very bad person!"

The exchange between Haley and Terrell underscores the deep polarization surrounding the issue of immigration in the United States.

On a similar context, an article by The Washington Post reports that  Trump’s campaign and his outside group have employed images of gathering migrants in New Hampshire advertisements critiquing Haley's immigration track record.

However, Haley and her supporters have countered this barrage by highlighting her own stringent policy stances on the issue in advertisements and during her campaign appearances.

Haley's spokeswoman, Nachama Soloveichik, asserted, "When Donald Trump was still a Hillary Clinton-supporting liberal, Nikki Haley passed one of the toughest anti-illegal-immigration laws in the country."

Soloveichik further accused Trump of funding misleading ads, which have been discredited, due to his awareness of Haley's ascent and his own decline in popularity.

Internet divided over Leo Terrell's criticism of Nikki Haley

A significant number of people joined in to express agreement with Terrelle's perspective on Nikki Haley, with the vast majority labeling Haley as dishonest.

Some of the comments on the X/Twitter post read, "Why do you lie so much?"

"Nikki Haley wants to give illegals amnesty. Listen to how nice she talks about the international criminals who illegally cross into the US. She doesn’t want you to call them 'criminals' even though they committed a crime entering the US. Haley is basically a Democrat."

"Does Nimarata Haley has split personality disorder syndrome?"a user asked.

"No thanks Tricky Nikki," a user snapped.

"You are the last person to talk about 'pathetic,'" said another.

"Remember when @NikkiHaley ran against nobody and still lost," a user recalled.

Others, who were not in supoort of Terrell's views wrote, "You meant 45 and yourself !!! Had to correct that… lol old dude must be getting senile".

"Leo, you are starting to sound like the con man you support. "She's a very bad person"? what's next "everybody says so"? Trump commited election interference, he is a very bad person. Leo, its time to think for yourself and stop living for the approval of Trump and Hannity, worte another person.
