PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: If her husband Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination for the 2024 presidential election, Melania Trump is reportedly pushing for Tucker Carlson to be chosen as his running mate.

According to a report by Axios, the former first lady believes that the former Fox News host would serve as a "powerful onstage extension" of her husband.

However, the competition for the vice-presidential post is tough, with Trump considering several politically experienced candidates such as Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio), Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and Representatives Byron Donalds (R-Florida) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia).

Kari Lake, who lost in her attempt at becoming a Republican governor in the state of Arizona in 2022 and is currently running for the US Senate in the state, is also among the "loyalist" candidates Trump is said to be considering for the vice presidency.

Despite Melania's preference, Donald Trump's staff and close associates are reportedly apprehensive about selecting Carlson.

They fear that he may "outshine" Trump and that the talk show host "cannot be controlled".

What did Trump’s associates have to say about the Axios story?

A Trump campaign aide told the New York Post that the former president is not looking beyond the Republican primary elections and refuted Axios' report.

“The Axios story is pure fiction,” the aide told the outlet. “Unless there is a formal announcement from President Trump or his campaign team, then it’s just speculation and not coming from us. President Trump is solely focused on winning the Republican nomination and then defeating Crooked Joe Biden in the general election.”

Former Trump administration officials Stephen Miller, Steve Bannon, John McEntee, Jeffrey Clark (one of Trump's co-defendants in the Georgia 2020 election interference case), Ric Grenell, John Ratcliffe, and Jared Kushner are also being considered for key White House roles and cabinet positions, according to the report.

Bannon, who briefly served as Trump's White House top strategist, commented on the Axios report, “That list may never come true, but it’s a type of person that fully understands President Trump’s policies … that understands President Trump’s resolve and direction”

He pushed for Trump to fill his possible second-term administration with people who’ll believe that the 2020 presidential election was rigged, saying, “There’s no middle ground. It’s either us or them, but one side is going to win and one side is going to lose. No compromise.”

Internet likes idea of a Trump-Tucker dynamic duo on the ballot in 2024

People on X backed the former FLOTUS's wishes to pair her husband Donald Trump with the firebrand political commentator Tucker Carlson and seemed quite keen to see the two on the 2024 ticket to Washington DC.

One X user said, "The ticket that would break the internet."

Another user wrote, "This would be the ideal ticket because among other things, Trump's VP needs to be as terrifying to the deep state as Trump himself is, and Tucker fits that bill. Also, he's awesome."

Another user tweeted, "I have seen interviews with Tucker about becoming a politician, and you know how he laughs, and he’s always been firm on his answer that he would never become one! I guess we’ll have to wait out and see what happens!"

One user stated, "I would support that. Tucker knows the swamp, the players and the game. The question is, would he?"

Another X user remarked, "This would have people on the left losing their minds. Add Vivek to the press secretary job, and the media would never get a word in, lol."

Another user wrote, "Two “non” politicians. Would be GLORIOUS."

One X user said, "Tucker Carlson as VP would be a powerhouse move. He's a common-sense guy with a no-nonsense approach, exactly what America needs. Trump-Carlson is the ticket that could steer the country back on track."

Another user tweeted, "Tucker Carlson would be a fantastic Vice President for Donald Trump and America. The people support him."

Another user wrote, "Carlson would be an amazing VP. He can learn the inner workings of the Presidency and get himself set up for 2028. Trump/Carlson 2024 . This ticket would shake the nation. Time will tell."

One X user tweeted, "T & T , that’s dynamite."
