WASHINGTON, DC: Naomi Biden, the granddaughter of Joe Biden, addressed billionaire Bill Ackman's claims about the President's handling of the hostage situation in Gaza, on Friday, April 5, as per Newsweek.

In a thread of posts on X, President Biden's granddaughter shared information that differed from what Ackman had mentioned in his post.

Bill Ackman made a post on X on April 5 stating, "Can anyone think of another situation in history where Americans were taken hostage by terrorists and our President acted as if this has not occurred."

He added, "I can’t think of one example in the last 181 days where @POTUS Biden has expressed concern for the American hostages that are still being held by Hamas. Does this make you feel safe as an American citizen?"

Replying to the remark, Naomi Biden posted, "Either you aren't paying attention or you're intentionally spreading disinformation. Either way, at best, you're ignorant. Thread below for just a few of the many examples."

She then shared a screenshot of a statement that read, "Today, we mark a devastating and tragic milestone-100 days of captivity for the more than 100 innocent people, including as many as 6 Americans, who are still held being hostage by Hamas in Gaza. For 100 days, they have existed in fear for their lives, not knowing what tomorrow will bring."

"For 100 days, their families have lived in agony, praying for the safe return of their loved ones. And for each of those 100 days, the hostages and their families) been at the forefront of my mind as my security team and I have worked non-stop try to secure their freedom. - @POTUS."

She went on to share several screenshots of news articles where it is mentioned, "Biden acknowledged hostage families at State of the Union", and so on.

Notably, Hamas spearheaded a deadly militant attack on Israel in recorded history on October 7, 2023. Israel then conducted its most intense airstrikes on Gaza in retaliation. Approximately 1,200 Israelis were killed and 250 were captured by Hamas. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the Associated Press claimed that more than 33,000 Palestinians had died thus far.

Moreover, a short ceasefire in November saw the release of over half of the captives that Hamas had taken in October. About a hundred hostages are thought to be still alive in Gaza, along with the bodies of another 30 hostages who either perished in captivity or were slain on October 7. There are six American hostages still in captivity, according to information released by the US Department of State in January.

Internet sides with Naomi Biden's post

Several social media users seemed to agree with Naomi Biden's post where she fact-checked Bill Ackman.

A user wrote on X, "Receipts for days. Bill being an idiot per the usual."

"All they do is lie Naomi. I don’t know how you can tolerate it. I can barely stand it. They lie and lie and lie."

A person also wrote, "Bill has been known to deceive in the past and got caught publicly like the Israelis with their lies and will continue to do it going forward shamelessly. Thank you for calling him out on this."

A user also mentioned, "Thank you Naomi" while one stated, "He’s such a prime example of: wealth does not equal smartness."
