SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Kamala Harris is once again trending - not for a campaign speech, but for her moves.

A newly surfaced backstage video shows the former vice president learning the viral “Boots on the Ground” line dance alongside TikTok creator Kenneth Walden (@2rawtooreal) at the Emerge America 20th anniversary gala in San Francisco.

The lighthearted and unscripted moment quickly caught fire online, with critics calling it “cringe.”

Kamala Harris hits the dance floor with TikTok star

Clad in a navy pantsuit, Harris followed Walden’s lead and smiled as she asked, “Will you teach me?”

In their brief chat, Walden asked how she sustains “Black joy” in the face of public scrutiny. Harris credited her husband, close friends, and family saying, “I have a husband who is here right now, and an incredible circle of friends who are family, and family. I think it’s just important to be with those people who love you and care about you, and get you.”

While the dance brought viral buzz, Harris’ return to public speaking drew sharper reactions. At the same gala, she delivered her first significant address since the 2024 election, warning that the early months of Donald Trump’s second term had brought “absolute chaos.”

She pointed to inflation-driving tariffs and accused the administration of turning away from America’s core values, declaring, “The White House belongs to the people.”

Trump allies quickly responded. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt offered a jab of her own, saying, “We encourage Kamala Harris to continue going out and doing speaking engagements.”

Kamala Harris attempt at trending TikTok move sparks wave of memes

Vice President Kamala Harris jumped into the TikTok spotlight this week by joining influencer Kenneth Walden in a trending dance move and the internet did not hold back.

The brief video, posted to Walden's social media, drew instant attention and triggered a flood of memes and mixed reactions online.

One user summed up the sentiment with, “Our guy’s better,” while another threw shade at her saying, “Kamala looks better when staying outside of the White House.”

Still, a few users gave credit where it was due, “At least she can dance. Thank goodness.” Another wrote, “We dodged a fatal bullet!”

One viral comment read, “Oh my God this is weapons grade levels of cringe,” and another added, “Yep and y’all still are wondering why she lost.”
