WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump's recent foray into social media after nearly 24 hours of silence was met with a barrage of criticism over his latest round of endorsements for various congressional candidates.

Among these endorsements were Congressman Buddy Carter (R-GA 1st District), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA 14th District), Austin Scott (R-GA 8th District) and James Comer, (R-KY 1st District).

Trump lauded Carter for his work in Georgia's 1st Congressional district. "Congressman Buddy Carter is a fantastic Representative for Georgia's 1st Congressional district," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Buddy is fighting hard to grow our Economy, unleash American Energy, secure the Border, strengthen our Military/Vets, improve Health Care, defend our always under siege Second Amendment, and support the Critical Ports of Savannah and Brunswick."

Trump's endorsement of Carter follows the former president's 2022 declaration of support for Georgia incumbents in the US House. Carter, is known for his involvement in various political controversies including the rejection of electoral college ballots for President Joe Biden following the Jan 6 riot at the US Capitol, received Trump's backing, per AJC Politics.

Another recipient of Trump's endorsement was Greene, whom he praised as a "fantastic Representative for Georgia's 14th Congressional District." "A true Fighter for our America First Movement, Marjorie is working tirelessly to secure our Border, end Migrant Crime, stop Inflation, support our Great Military/Vets, defend our always under siege Second Amendment, ensure Election Integrity, and hold Joe Biden and the Radical Left accountable for their UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAWFARE AND ELECTION INTERFERENCE."

In 2022, Former President Trump endorsed first-term Rep Greene after she contested the certification of the 2020 election results in his favor. In his endorsement, Trump hailed the Georgia Republican as "a warrior in Congress." He said, "She doesn’t back down, she doesn’t give up, and she has ALWAYS been with ‘Trump.’ She loves our Country and MAGA, its greatest ever political movement. Marjorie is running for reelection to Congress, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!" reported The Hill.

Jim Jordan (R-OH) says he will seek a third vote to become Speaker after failing to get enough support in the first two votes. (Photo by Anna Moneymaker/Getty Images)

Trump's endorsement also extended to Scott, whom he described as an "incredible Representative for the people of Georgia’s 8th Congressional District." "Austin is fighting hard to uphold the Rule of Law, secure the Border, protect our Brave Military/Vets, defend our always under siege Second Amendment, champion American Energy Independence, and support our Great Farmers."

However, the enthusiasm surrounding these endorsements was dampened by past controversies, such as Trump's failure to denounce the Ku Klux Klan during his 2016 campaign, as highlighted by US Rep Scott. “Donald Trump’s reprehensible refusal to denounce the Ku Klux Klan is just the latest, most outrageous example of why he can never be the Republican nominee,” Scott said in the statement. “Georgia Republicans will not allow their party to be taken over by a con man," per Albany Herald.

In another endorsement, Trump backed Comer, whom he described as an "incredible Representative for the people of Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District." "As the Chair of the House Oversight Committee, James is working tirelessly to hold Joe Biden and the Radical Left ACCOUNTABLE for their Blatant Corruption, and the Death and Destruction they have unleashed on our Country."

Previously, in 2020, Congressman Comer supported President Trump’s decision to suspend payments to the World Health Organization (WHO). “American taxpayers should absolutely not subsidize an agency whose leadership worked with Communist China to conceal the dangers of COVID-19 from the world,” Comer stated. “Until there is accountability from the WHO on this apparent cover-up and a full investigation into their relationship with the Chinese government, I fully support the President’s action to cut off their funding,” Comer said.

Social media slams Donald Trump's 'boring' endorsements

Despite Trump's glowing endorsements, these moves were met with significant backlash on social media. A TruthSocial user said, "Buddy Carter is RINO," referring to Carter as a Republican in Name Only. Another user bluntly stated, "These paid endorsements are f***ing boring and worth less than the toilet paper we wipe our a***s with."

A third comment read, "Austin SHOULD lose reelection. He's not worth your endorsement. NO ONE I know is voting for him, here. After his bs in The House, voting as a moonbat? Check out his voting record, plz. WE DID. He's got to go. Even if the REAL MOONBAT wins, there will be no difference in the way the votes go. #NEVERAUSTINAGAINEVER #GOODBYEAUSTINSCOTT." Another user said, "You're the only person I am ever voting for sir again! F--- all politicians!"

A user on Truth Social claimed Biden is prosecuting Trump in New York and remarked about Greene, "She needs to go away. Just another do-nothing but stir the s--- pot loudmouth." Another added, "Disagree!! She is an idiot and needs to be voted out!"

Regarding Comer, a user commented, "He's had nearly 3.5 years now to bring charges against Joey and Crack Head Hunter and we haven't seen squat." The user questioned, "Just how great is he, or is he dragging his feet to appease the Uniparty?"
