Benny Johnson recalls Donald Trump’s words from Jan 6

On X, Benny Johnson wrote, “Never Forget that Donald Trump posted a video on January 6th telling people to go home peacefully. Twitter 1.0 took it down within 5 minutes.”

“They prevented people from hearing this…” added Johnson as he shared the clip of Donald Trump.

In the clip, Trump said, “I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. Was a landslide election and everyone knows it, especially the other side.”

He continued, “But you have to go home now, we have to have peace, we have to have law and order, we have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt. It is a very tough period of time.”

“There’s never been a time like this where such a thing happened, where they could take it away from all of us. From me, from you, from our country. This was a fraudulent election but we can’t play into the hands of these people,” said the former President.

He also said, “We have to have peace. So go home, we love you, you are very special, you’ve seen what happens, you’ve seen the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil. I know how you feel, but go home, and go home in peace.”

Internet weighs in on Donald Trump’s clip on X

One user wrote, “Of course they did. I am so glad that Twitter 1.0 is gone,” and another wrote, “The left doesn't care about the truth. They only care about power and control and will do whatever it takes to keep it.”

“Donald Trump did nothing wrong!” expressed a third user.

However, a wide array of people had completely different reactions, slamming the former president for the response.

One person wrote, “Never forget: Trump posted the video hours after the insurrection had started, and once it was evident the insurrection had failed,” and another said, “So it's Twitter's fault people attacked the Capitol? You know the White House has a 24/7 press room, right? Trump could've used that at any time. He watched the insurrection on tv for 3 hours before tweeting this crap out. There are receipts, benny.”

“Never forget, he watched the insurrection for hours before responding. #TRE45ON,” alleged another person.
