LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Diablo Cody, acclaimed writer and producer, is unapologetically prioritizing financial success over accolades, even suggesting she would trade her prestigious Oscar for a billion-dollar box-office hit.

Cody, known for her work on 'Juno,' expressed this sentiment in response to the recent Oscar snubs of Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig.

In a People interview, Cody addressed the Oscar snubs and emphasized her focus on box office returns, stating, "Here's what I'm going to say. Obviously, of course I think Greta deserved a nomination and so did Margot."

Cody, 45, tells PEOPLE. "But they made a billion dollars on that movie, okay? I would trade my Oscar for a billion-dollar movie right now, if I could flip a switch! Sorry if that's disrespectful to the Academy."

While Cody insisted she meant no disrespect to the Academy, her remarks underline the industry's complex relationship between artistic recognition and commercial triumph.

Despite the perceived snubs, Cody highlighted the significant achievements of the 'Barbie' project. Gerwig secured a nomination in the Best Adapted Screenplay category, along with her husband Noah Baumbach. Robbie is nominated as one of the producers in the Best Picture field.

She stated, "They made a billion dollars and they got eight nominations across the board," Cody says. "Margot got nominated as a producer, which I think, knowing what she has been trying to do in her career, I feel like that must've been incredibly satisfying for her. And Greta created a phenomenon."

Cody praised the team's accomplishment, noting the challenging nature of adapting the Barbie doll into a successful film. She stated, "So you could call it a snub, but I think that what they achieved is probably bigger than those individual nominations."

One user expressed agreement, simply stating, "Who wouldn't."

However, another user had a different take, commenting, "This movie sucked anyways." The critical perspective suggests that despite the box office success, not everyone is a fan of the 'Barbie' film.

Adding to the discussion, a user pointed out the potential challenges the 'Barbie' film which Cody tried to make could have faced, stating, "It would've flopped. She had Amy Schumer as Barbie, and her most recent project Powerpuff Girls was canned at the CW."

In a more humorous tone, another user remarked, "Selling your soul is popular in Hollywood. Haha."
