NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On a recent segment of Fox News' 'Jesse Watters Primetime', Stuart Kaplan, a former FBI agent, weighed in on the Department of Justice's charges against Alexander Smirnov, a key informant who provided insights into alleged schemes involving President Joe Biden and his family.

Kaplan emphasized that these charges should not be interpreted as a triumph for Biden.

In this regard, Watters took to his X/Twitter account, writing, "The DOJ is bringing felony charges against the "credible" FBI informant who said Joe & Hunter Biden were involved in a $10m bribery scheme with Burisma. Everyone who blows the whistle on the Biden's seems to get locked up."

In 2020, Smirnov provided the FBI with information concerning purported corruption involving President Biden and his family's ties to a Ukrainian energy firm named Burisma.

With the recent filing of charges, Smirnov now faces allegations, including making a false statement and fabricating a false record.

During the discussion, host Jesse Watters sought Kaplan's insights on the implications of these charges and their potential impact on the future of the case involving the Bidens.

“Well, it’s certainly not a time for the FBI to take a victory lap. It’s shameful, it’s embarrassing, and it’s not a time at all for the Bidens to take a victory lap,” Kaplan said.

“Jesse, when that 1023 form was released last year, my colleagues and I knew at that point that that informant was going to be sacrificed. It was just a matter of time. That informant has been on the books since 2010, 11, 12, up until more recently. You do not stay on the books with the FBI unless you have been vetted and you are credible," he added.

Kaplan continued, “And the fact that he had received so much money from the FBI and so many people have to sign off on those payments, it has to be verified that he is a very productive informant."

“So what the FBI and our government wants to have us believe now, is we have now taken out the predicate, the predicator, the person who started the ball rolling, you know, tattling or telling on the Bidens and now we gathered all of this other information, all of the money trail, all of the checks and all of the payments."

“Yet because we are going to discredit the guy who unleashed on him, let’s throw it all in the garbage like it never even happen,” he added.

“So let’s assume we eliminate this guy. We still have a treasure trove of evidence that leads directly from Hunter Biden to his father. It’s just insane. It’s illogical. It really is embarrassing, I can’t believe that the FBI has gone down the road again to unleash on this informant," Kaplan further added.

DOJ charges in Biden bribery case sparks concern

Watters' post garnered significant attention, sparking a flurry of comments from users both in support of his statements and in opposition to them.

The comments disagreeing with Watters' statements expressed a range of concerns and critiques, with one saying, "The DOJ is bringing charges because he lied. Do you have evidence to the contrary? Because if not, you are the one with no credibility, Jesse."

Another wrote, "Nice spin. Are you dizzy?" while one said, "Making up false stories is not blowing the whistle."

"That's how the mafia does it," said a user while weighing in on the charges against the informant.

Another said, "They must silence those that oppose them."

"Considering Justice has been arresting peaceful pro-lifers this is not shocking. Hopefully they don’t Epstein him", said another.

Another person echoed a similar sentiment, writing, "It will be a sight to see when all of these corrupt Deep State players go to jail in the future. DJT's retribution".
