DES MOINES, IOWA: The fifth GOP debate took place five days before the Iowa caucuses and the participants included only former South Carlina governor Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after Vivek Ramaswamy and Chris Christie did not qualify for the debate, while front-runner Donald Trump chose to skip yet another debate.

During the GOP debate, DeSantis addressed his clash with Disney before he proceeded to claim that Haley “sided with Disney,” while he “stood and fought for the kids.” The Florida Governor also added that Haley will always cave to the “woke mob”.

During the fifth GOP debate, moderator Dana Bash asked Ron DeSantis, “Governor DeSantis you used your power in Florida to take on Disney after the company criticized an education bill that you signed into law. How is that square with the traditional conservative view that small limited government is best?”

To which, DeSantis responded, “The proper role of government, if it means anything…it’s to protect our kids and I just do it for the innocent of our kids.”

The Florida governor received a round of applause as he continued, “It is wrong to sexualize the curriculum, it is wrong to tell a kindergartener, like Disney used to, that you can change your gender.”

He emphasized that he “stood and fought for the kids.”

DeSantis then addressed Nikki Haley and said, “Now Nikki Haley, she sided with Disney, she invited them to South Carolina.”

He added, “She is representative of this corporate element of the party,” as he cited examples before stating, “We need to stand up for the people and not bow down to the woke corporations. We know Nikki Haley will cave to the woke mob every single time.”
