TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign team posted a video on X on Thursday, December 21, 2023, detailing instances where former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley flip-flopped on her previously held beliefs or her stance on a wide array of relevant socio-political topics.

This can be seen as a response from the DeSantis camp as the former UN Ambassador is neck and neck with him for second place in the Iowa GOP primary, while former President Trump continues to hold a substantial lead for the first place, according to a poll released on Wednesday, December 20.

The Hill reported that in the Emerson College Polling Iowa survey, Donald Trump secured 50 percent of the Republican caucus voters' votes when asked to name their most likely candidate of choice.

Meanwhile, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis garnered 17 percent and approximately 15 percent of the votes, respectively.

It is important to note that the survey size was 420 voters, which means that the margin of error is plus or minus 4.7 percentage points.

Therefore, Haley and DeSantis are within the margin of error.

Biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy received 8 percent of the votes, while 6 percent of respondents were undecided.

Four percent of respondents expressed their support for former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

What does the latest poll ahead of January 15 Iowa caucus indicate?

The recent survey results reveal that Nikki Haley has witnessed a surge of 10 percentage points since a similar poll conducted in September this year.

Conversely, Trump, DeSantis, and Ramaswamy have only witnessed a 1-point surge.

It is noteworthy that DeSantis and the super PAC that supports him have primarily established their presence in Iowa.

DeSantis has been consistently polling in second place in the Hawkeye State, trailing behind Trump.

However, a survey conducted by NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom in late October demonstrated that Haley is tied with DeSantis for the second position.

Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, explained in a press release, “Among registered Republicans, Trump leads with 52%, compared to 16% for Haley and 14% for DeSantis – independents show a closer contest, with Trump at 43%, Haley at 25%, and DeSantis at 15%.”

Kimball added, “These numbers suggest that Trump will perform better in closed primary states where only registered Republicans can vote.”

Kimball highlighted that while Haley has a 20-point advantage over Trump among post-graduate GOP voters, she still trails the former president among both female and male voters in the state.

“Haley has made inroads with female voters where she trails Trump 47% to 20% (27 point difference) as compared with males who break for Trump 53% to 15% (38 point difference) for Haley,” Kimball stated.

The Emerson College Polling survey was conducted between December 15 and 17, with 1,094 Iowa voters surveyed and a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points.

Ron DeSantis slammed for going after Haley after concerning survey results

People on X criticized the Florida Governor's campaign team for targeting the emerging Nikki Haley, from the field of GOP presidential candidates.

One X user wrote, "This is embarrassing. You’re polling at 6% in NH and now in third place for Iowa even."

Another user said, "She’s the best of the bunch. The only other candidates I’d consider would be Christie or Hutchinson. Pass on the rest."

Someone else remarked, "Little Ron is such a sad politician…"

Another tweeted, "Nikki for president."

An X user wrote, "Whenever I see a Nikki supporter trying to act like she is campaigning for anything but Trumps VP I just laugh and laugh."

"She’s the RNC’s darling which is a nail in her political career," another wrote.
