NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Senator Tom Cotton has remarked that the war between Israel and Hamas would have been probably over if former President Donald Trump was still in the White House, reported Fox News.

The Republican from Arkansas made the comments while appearing on the CBS program, 'Face the Nation,' on Sunday, May 12.

"President Trump said just last night that he would absolutely provide Israel with the weapons they need to finish the job. This would have never happened on President Trump's watch. It didn't happen on his watch," he stated.

"And if he were president, this war would have probably already been over with much less civilian suffering in Gaza because he would have backed Israel to the hilt from the beginning."

Sen Tom Cotton slams Joe Biden

The GOP Senator has been a vocal critic of the incumbent Joe Biden and has renewed calls for Biden's impeachment following his announcement of withholding offensive military aid to Isreal last week, amidst its war with Hamas.

Biden has stated that he was concerned about the security of civilians in Gaza, as Israel was apparently not taking necessary measures to ensure their safety.

Israel has launched strikes on the city of Rafah in Gaza, where more that a million Palestinians have taken refuge. Biden reportedly warned Israel PM Netanyahu against launching a full-scale invasion of the city without ensuring the safety of the civilians, stating that the United States would not be supplying weapons to be utilized for that purpose.

However, Cotton claimed that the delay in aid shipment was related to the Democrat's reelection bid, as he was trying to unite his party that was fractured on its take on the war in Gaza.

Back in April, Cotton had further called upon the federal administration to deport foreign students who were engaged in disruptive anti-Israel demonstrations on college campuses.

"Hey when is trump going to walk on water?" mockingly inquired another.

"Over? Never would have started. We all remember the world peace he brought with his leadership," shared a third.

"Yes, & Jared would already be building his waterfront hotels," joked a fifth user.
