Internet in splits as Jimmy Kimmel says he's 'pleased as punch' to be named in Trump's hush money trial
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Jimmy Kimmel made a surprising discovery during Donald Trump's hush money trial, that is, his inclusion in the legal proceedings.
During his Thursday, May 2, monologue, the late-night most, "I am very excited, I am very proud, I am exhilarated even because from here on, we aren’t just following the Donald Trump drama in New York. We are part of it!"

Kimmel explained that he has become part of the "official record" in the hush money trial involving Stormy Daniels as prosecutors submitted text messages related to his late-night show as evidence.
He quipped, "Suffice it to say that when Ryan Murphy makes the nine-part miniseries about this for Fubo, I will be in it I would assume someone like George Clooney or maybe Chris Hemsworth will be playing me."
The comedian added context saying, "The big surprise bombshell today, at least for us, was when prosecutors entered into evidence a series of text messages about our show."
He continued, "So, back in 2018 Keith Davidson, who is the lawyer who helped Stormy negotiate her hush money deal, was apparently surprised that she was booked to be my guest and concerned about it so he texted with Trump's lawyer at the time Michael Cohen while the show was on the air."
Subsequently, Kimmel joked, "I don’t want to brag, but, it is the first time a late-night talk show has been introduced into evidence at the criminal trial for a president of the United States. Johnny Carson didn’t get that with Nixon. We got it here."
Saying that he was "pleased as a punch" to be included in the hush money trial, the late-night host claimed that they missed the most important part of the interview.
He proceeded to play a clip from the episode in which he asked Stormy Daniels to pick a mushroom that closely resembled Trump's anatomy.
Notably, Trump has consistently expressed anger towards late-night show hosts that poke fun at him, with Kimmel's jokes being a frequent sore point for the ex-POTUS.
It's been reported that Trump went as far as instructing White House officials to take steps to shut down Kimmel's show, resulting in at least two phone conversations between administration officials and Disney, ABC's parent company that airs the late-night host's show, as reported by Rolling Stone.
