PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Rep Matt Gaetz, a supporter of Donald Trump, has given a stern ultimatum to President Joe Biden regarding the escalating situation at the nation's border.

The Florida Congressman warned the President during a speech at the AmericaFest with Turning Point USA in Phoenix on December 17: "Here's my message for Joe Biden. Shut down the border, or we will shut down the government."

According to a local news outlet, Tampa Free Press, Gaetz, along with his wife Ginger Gaetz, traveled to Iowa ahead of the Republican presidential caucus on January 15, 2024, where he visited the Team Trump Cedar Rapids Office and Team Trump Iowa HQ in Urbandale.

Matt Gaetz's statement reflects Donald Trump's anti-immigration policy

Border security and the increasing flow of undocumented migrants from the US-Mexico border are among the focus points of Trump's 2024 presidential election campaign.

The Republican lawmaker's firm warning to Biden shows his staunch support for Donald Trump and his anti-immigrant policies.

Trump multiple times explicitly used anti-immigrant language in his campaign speeches. Recently addressing the crowd at a New Hampshire rally, the former President made inflammatory remarks saying undocumented immigrants were "poisoning the blood" of America.

And later, in a rally in Nevada, he said he has plans for "the largest deportation operation in American history" to deport the "millions of Biden illegal aliens who are invading our country" if he wins the 2024 election.

Internet mocks Matt Gaetz

Netizens are ridiculing the Trump supporter for making ultimatums against the Biden administration. Some users even questioned his eligibility to serve as a Congressman.

One user said, "Gaetz is a big mouth who thinks he can do what he wants because he a MAGA traitor."

Another user remarked, "I mean isn't that what you've been trying to do this whole time? It's not really a threat when it's your gold standard Matt."

"Does this ultimatum remind you of (1) an adult or (2) a third grader?" asked a third user.

A fourth user stated, "Gaetz is lucky he doesn't live in a country where he'd already be imprisoned."

"Only in America someone like Matt Gaetz could rise to become a Congressman," read one reaction.

Another added, "No MATTY, just no. It’s not how it works you clown."

"If the “border gets shutdown” what will GQP have to excite their base about!??? They always run on those scary caravans!" another user said.
