Internet mocks 'gullible' Rep Lauren Boebert as she defends 'pretty' Trump for sleeping in court, claims he's praying

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Lauren Boebert, a staunch ally of Donald Trump, defended the former president for falling asleep during his hush money trial, claiming he was "praying," according to Mediaite.

The Colorado Republican came up with the bizarre conclusion during a House committee meeting on Thursday, May 16.

Boebert asked Democrat Rep Robert Garcia to display the enlarged photo of Trump sleeping in court, which he had brought to the committee room.

"Every so often, Mr Garcia, maybe you could just lift up that picture of our President Trump sleeping. As you say, I think he's praying. But if he is sleeping, you know, certainly looks pretty while he sleeps," said Boebert.

The 45th president, who is currently under trial for falsifying his business records to cover up an alleged hush money payment to Stormy Daniels, fell asleep in court multiple times since the proceedings began a month ago, as per several reports.

Continuing her novel defense of the MAGA spearhead, the GOP legislator reasoned that Trump might have been praying while he closed his eyes and that his demeanor at the time did not indicate that he was asleep.

"Maybe it's an endearing moment of prayer, though. I know when I fall asleep on airplanes, you know, my mouth kind of drops open, and, you know, his mouth is kind of tight-lipped, so maybe. Maybe it's just a somber moment," claimed Boebert.

However, Rep Garcia interfered by pointing at several press reports that said Trump was sleeping during the criminal trial.

In response, Boebert highlighted her recent visit to the court accompanying the ex-POTUS and noted that the slow proceedings during the trial could make anyone fall asleep.

"I was in the courtroom today, and I, I do, I could see why someone would fall asleep. Just like George Conway fell asleep today, in the court hearing. You know, it's kind of slow in there. It's not as exciting as the House Oversight Committee, but, I just wanted to say that's a lovely picture. You have a President Trump. Mr. Garcia, thank you. And I yield," added the Trump ally.

Boebert joined the real estate mogul at the Manhattan courthouse on May 16 along with a string of GOP lawmakers, including Andy Biggs and Matt Gaetz, publicly stating her support for Trump in the criminal trial.

However, the congresswoman's decision to be at the high-profile trial drew flak because she skipped the court appearance of her teenage son in Colorado.

Tyler Boebert, the lawmaker's 19-year-old son, was arrested in February over vehicle trespass and property theft. Though she had claimed the arrest broke her heart, she was noticeably absent from court proceedings.

One wrote, "Q-pee Doll is either gullible or a lair. Despite what Trump probably tells her, he has likely never prayed in his life," and another added, "I'm telling you, she's going to start a grifting church after she lose her reelection."

A person remarked, "If I were a friend or family member of Lauren’s I would encourage her to stay silent when there’s a microphone around. Every single time she speaks she makes a fool of herself. If I were her constituent I’d ask her to resign and stop embarrassing the country."

"Laughable claim about a laughable defendant by a laughable cultist. The clown show goes on and on," expressed an individual, while one more quipped, "If she had a brain she would take it out and play with it."

Another person mentioned, "Kellyanne gave us Alternative Facts and Boo Boo gives us pretty praying. Do they HEAR themselves?????"
