Tyler Boebert: Lauren Boebert's son arrested, faces 22 charges for vehicle break-ins and property thefts
RIFLE, COLORADO: Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert's 18-year-old son, Tyler Boebert, was arrested by authorities on Wednesday, February 28, facing a total of 22 charges related to a series of vehicle break-ins and property theft in the town of Rifle, Colorado.
The charges include criminal possession of a financial device, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, theft under $300, criminal possession of ID, conspiracy to commit a felony, and various misdemeanors and petty charges, as per KKCO.
Tyler is currently held at the Garfield County Jail, with no bond set for his release.
Tyler Boebert's prior legal troubles
Although, this isn't the first time Tyler has faced controversy. Last year, he was involved in a car accident where a friend, Noble D'Amato, alleged that the Congresswoman's son's reckless driving left him with multiple concussions and a debilitating hand injury.
"I still have problems with my hand," he told Westword. "My thumb almost got cut off. It prevented me from getting a welding job, because I can't hold a TIG torch anymore. I'm a personal-care provider now."
Nevertheless, D'Amato accused the Boebert family of covering up the incident, claiming Tyler was "stone-cold sober" at the time.
Boebert family faced backlash for allegedly downplaying injuries in car accident
Tyler faced legal consequences for the accident, receiving a careless driving ticket, later reduced to a "defective vehicle for headlights" ticket through a plea deal. He underwent court-ordered driving school and attended a court hearing, revealing details of the accident.
The Boebert family faced criticism for downplaying D'Amato's injuries in an official statement, with accusations of attempting to minimize the severity of the incident.
Lauren Boebert gets a restraining order against her abusive husband
Additionally, Tyler has dealt with family turmoil, including an allegedly abusive father, Jayson Boebert. The father was arrested in January after an altercation at a Colorado restaurant, and Boebert allegedly assaulted his son during a separate incident over laundry.
"Tyler described that Jayson shoved him by placing one hand in the area of his throat/neck and pushing back," Deputy Cyd Ramirez penned. Lauren obtained a restraining order against Boebert earlier this month, citing domestic violence incidents.
However, the family's issues gained public attention, with the husband accusing Congresswoman Lauren of using the restraining order to justify her move to a new congressional district.
