'Colorado needs one against her': Rep Lauren Boebert trolled for getting restraining order against ex
DENVER, COLORADO: Rep Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) has now been granted a temporary restraining order against ex-husband Jayson Boebert after accusing him of threatening her.
On Monday, February 5, the Republican representative was granted a temporary restraining order against her former spouse. The restraining order can be made permanent after a Thursday, February 8 hearing.
More on Lauren Boebert’s restraining order against Jayson Boebert
During a filing against Jayson in a Garfield County court on Friday, February 2, the House representative claimed Jayson Boebert has “made multiple suicidal threats and threats to harm me over the past 14 months".
The Congresswoman further claimed that Jayson entered her Silt, Colorado, home without her permission. Lauren said that her former spouse notified her of entering the house via a text message and told her that he would be removing and destroying some of her personal belongings.
The Republican representative of the Colorado third district mentioned a January 6 altercation with Jayson Boebert which took place at the Miner’s Claim restaurant in Silt, per New York Post.
During the incident, Jayson called the police on his ex-wife and alleged she punched him in the face. However, he later retracted on the statement and police said the accusation was unfounded.
When the police responded to the restaurant, Jayson Boebert was allegedly non-cooperative which led him to being charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal trespass and obstructing a peace officer, per court documents.
In her court documents, Lauren Boebert also mentioned a January 9 physical involving Jayson and their 18-year-old son Tyler Boebert. She, however, claimed she was not present during the incident.
It was mentioned in her court documents that during the altercation, as her son called the authorities, Jayson allegedly grabbed a rifle and left.
Her former spouse was charged with harassment, prohibited use of a weapon and third-degree assault for this incident.
On Monday, February 5, the judge granted her a temporary restraining order against Jason Boebert that also included protection for their three younger sons. The former couple share another adult son together.
What did Jayson Boebert say about the restraining order?
In a text message to The Associated Press, Jayson said that he was just learning about the restraining order claiming he went to her Silt home to clean the house in preparation for the arrival of “her Granny".
Claiming he was the victim in the restaurant, Jayson added, “I would never harm Lauren I just want to move on and be in peace,” per NBC.
While he did not comment on the January 9 incident, he claimed Lauren Boebert is using the restraining order in order to “justify”her move to the fourth congressional district from her current third district.
In December 2023, Lauren said that she would not be running from her current congressional seat representing Colorado’s third district and instead will run for office from the more Republican-inclined fourth district.
She said during that time, “It’s the right move for me personally, and it’s the right decision for those who support our conservative movement.”
