SILT, COLORADO: Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert announced on Wednesday, December 27, that she will switch her congressional district in the 2024 election to the House of Representatives.

In a video message posted on X and Facebook accounts, Lauren said that she would run to represent Colorado's 4th congressional district, swapping from the 3rd congressional district she currently represents.

Announcing her candidacy for the 2024 Republican nomination, she said, "It's the right move for me personally, and it's the right decision for those who support our conservative movement. This is the right move for Colorado. For us."



 

According to CNN, Boebert's decision comes amid rising concerns among the conservative members of the House of a possible tough reelection bid in the 3rd congressional district in the Western part of the state.

Election to the House of Representatives is scheduled for November 5, coinciding with the presidential election.

Lauren Boebert's declining popularity among the 3rd congressional district voters

A staunch ally of Donald Trump, Lauren won the 2022 election, beating Democrat Adam Frisch only by 546 votes, according to The Hill report. The possibility of facing Frisch for a second time and her decreasing appeal among the voters might have led the GOP lawmaker to reach this decision.

Her video message said, "I will not allow dark money, that is directed at destroying me personally, to steal this seat. It's not fair to the third district and the conservatives there who have fought so hard for our victories, of which I'm incredibly grateful."



 

Mentioning her personal difficulties this year, including her divorce, Boebert added she did not "arrive at this decision easily."

"A lot of prayer. A lot of tough conversations and a lot of perspective has convinced me that this is the best way I can continue to fight for Colorado, the conservative movement, my children's future, and the future of our great country," she said.

Lauren Baubert's new district is Colorado's most conservative 

The 4th Congressional District covering the Eastern Plains of the state currently represented by Republican Rep Ken Buck is a solid Republican district, giving her a better chance at remaining in Congress. Buck earlier announced that he would not seek reelection in 2024.



 

"Colorado's 4th District is hungry for an unapologetic defender of freedom with a proven track record of standing strong for conservative principles," the lawmaker added.

Promising to continue working for her current district for the rest of the term, she reiterated her support for Trump in his presidential bid. Lauren's congressional district swap comes amid the Colorado Supreme Court ruling the former president ineligible for the presidency, barring his candidacy from the state's primary ballot.

Netizens are calling out the Colorado lawmaker for abandoning her congressional district to ensure her seat in the House after the 2024 elections. Social media reactions labeled her a "coward" and demanded her resignation.

One user remarked, "Wow. You absolute coward."



 

Another user responded, "Smells of desperation, must be desperation..."



 

"Is this your concession speech," a user asked.



 

One user called out Boebert, saying, "You've done nothing for the people. Resign or do something. It's that simple."



 

"Coward and a loser," read one reaction.



 

Another user added, "Translation: I barely won District 3 in 2020 and I've become less popular with Colorado voters since then, so I'm switching to District 4 since it's not as competitive and always swings red."
