WASHINGTON, DC: Vice President Kamala Harris is getting new nicknames from former president Donald Trump as part of a renewed emphasis on the VP. This comes at the same time that Harris is being tipped to be President Joe Biden's replacement on the 2024 ticket following the latter's appalling debate performance.

Trump frequently gives his political rivals monikers like "Crooked Hillary" [Hillary Clinton] and "Low Energy Jeb" [George Bush]. The business mogul has also given Biden a number of names including "Slow Joe," "Sleepy Joe," and "Crooked Joe."

Trump now turned his focus to Harris this week following Biden's debate performance which alarmed some Democrats and media personalities and caused him to decline in the polls.

As the vice president, Harris would succeed Biden if he resigned from office and she would also be a top contender for the 2024 Democratic nomination if Biden announced that he does not intend to serve a second term.

Donald Trump gave Kamala Harris a new nickname in his social media post

In a post on Truth Social, Trump referred to Vice President Biden as "Laffin' Kamala Harris" and congratulated her, saying that she had "choked like a dog" during the debate.

"Also, respects to our potentially new Democrat Challenger, Laffin’ Kamala Harris," he said, as per Fox News. "She did poorly in the Democrat Nominating process, starting out at Number Two, and ending up defeated and dropping out, even before getting to Iowa, but that doesn’t mean she’s not a ‘highly talented’ politician!" he added.

The Trump team had released a statement the day before, criticizing Democrats and the media for what they claimed was a cover-up to conceal Biden's purported mental sharpness. "Every one of them has lied about Joe Biden’s cognitive state and supported his disastrous policies over the past four years, especially Cackling Copilot Kamala Harris," the statement said.

Recent CNN poll suggests Kamala Harris performs slightly better than Joe Biden in a matchup with Donald Trump

According to a nationwide survey conducted by CNN on Tuesday, July 2, Harris outperforms Biden in a matchup with Trump.

"Harris’ slightly stronger showing against Trump rests at least in part on broader support from women (50% of female voters back Harris over Trump vs. 44% for Biden against Trump) and independents (43% Harris vs. 34% Biden)," the poll notes in a release.

In his quest for a second term in the White House, Biden, who is 81 years old and the oldest president in American history, is currently going through the hardest part of the campaign. The president does not intend to withdraw from the race, according to repeated statements from Biden's campaign.

On Thursday, July 4, he told supporters that he is not leaving the race. A supporter called out at an Independence Day event, saying, "Keep up the fight. We need you!" Biden responded, "You got me, man. I'm not going anywhere."

Netizens also suggested several nicknames for the US vice president after Trump called her out in his social media post. One X user wrote, "Laffin but nobody is Laffin. She can't be serious." Another said, "The cackling copilot is a classic lmaooo .." One user proposed, "I like Chuckles. It describes her constant laughing while referencing a clown."
