'MAGA moron': Internet rejoices as 'Bob's Burgers' actor Jay Johnston pleads guilty over Jan 6, faces 5 years in prison

WASHINGTON, DC: Jay Johnston, recognized for his roles on 'Arrested Development' and 'Bob’s Burgers', entered a guilty plea on Monday, July 8, for his participation in the January 6, 2021, assault on the US Capitol.

He admitted to a single felony charge of civil disorder. The 55-year-old is scheduled for sentencing on October 7.

Actor Jay Johnston faces civil disorder charges

The charge of civil disorder is leveled against individuals who "commit or attempt to commit any act that obstructs, impedes, or interferes with" the duties of law enforcement officers during a civil disorder. Johnston could receive a prison sentence of up to five years, USA Today reported

In 2023, Johnston, along with several associates, faced charges including civil disorder, disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building and grounds, unauthorized entry and remaining in a restricted building and grounds, and obstructing passage through the Capitol grounds or buildings.

The actor provided the voice for Jimmy Pesto in 'Bob's Burgers', portrayed Officer Taylor in 'Arrested Development', appeared as an eyewitness news member in 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy', and played various roles in the brief sketch comedy series 'W/Bob and David'.

FBI has interviewed three current and former associates of Jay Johnston

In a statement of facts document from 2023, which USA Today acquired, the FBI disclosed that it had conducted interviews with "three current and former associates" of Johnston.

Each associate confirmed that Johnston was the person depicted in the still images extracted from footage of the riot, which included public videos, closed-circuit television, and police body camera recordings.

Johnston was allegedly observed pushing against police officers and assisting other rioters near the entrance of the Capitol.



 

The document also stated that Johnston's text messages regarding the riot were given to the FBI by one of the former associates. "The news has presented it as an attack. It actually wasn't. (Though) it kind of turned into that. It was a mess. Got maced and tear gassed …" the document said.

FBI records indicate that United Airlines documented a round-trip for Johnston from Los Angeles to Washington, DC, with a departure on January 4 and a return on January 7, 2021.

Internet demands that more Donald Trump supporters be imprisoned

As soon as the news went viral on Facebook, users started reacting to it. A user wrote talking about Jay Johnston, "The more trump supporters going to jail the better."

Another user added, "Guilty for trespassing."

The third commentator wrote, "He was not the only actor committing violence on Jan 6th."

"Lock him up," One demanded.

A person said, "Just another patriot that will be pardoned once Trump is back in the White House"

A Facebook user remarked, "Another maga moron going to jail."
