LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: President Joe Biden's mental health was defended by Jane Fonda, known for her extreme communist views, in an interview with CNN on Tuesday, June 18, stating that he was "just fine."

"I'm older than he is," Fonda said, according to Fox News. The 86-year-old actress, who is five years older than Biden, was notably snapped in 1972 sitting atop a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun.

Jane Fonda said she's 'all for age'

"I'm all for age," she said, adding "I can tell you that you do get wiser and you do learn things. You learn from your mistakes. I have seen him up close and personal and he's fine. He's perfectly suited to be President of the United States … He's just fine."

Jane Fonda was responding to comments Jill Biden made about her husband

Fonda was reacting to remarks made by Jill Biden regarding her husband during a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in the midst of an endeavor to engage senior citizens with pickleball and bingo evenings. "Joe and that other guy are essentially the same age. Let’s not be fooled," Jill Biden said, adding "Joe isn't one of the most effective presidents of our lives in spite of his age, but because of it."

"He's someone we can work with and that's what we need," Fonda said, drawing a contrast between Biden and Donald Trump whom she called the "Orange Man" several times in her interview. "We don't need a demagogue. There's a lot about President Biden that I really admire and respect and like," she added. 

Jane Fonda announced a new initiative alongside Jill Biden

Fonda announced a new initiative, "Seniors for Biden-Harris," in Reno, Nevada, alongside Jill Biden on Friday, June 14. "Age is a gift, but there are those who devalue our wisdom and dismiss our experience," the first lady said. 

Jane Fonda previously voiced her support multiple times for Joe Biden

A vocal advocate for the environment, Fonda repeatedly stated that her conviction that the climate issue was existential was a major factor in her support for Biden. "That's why I really want to elect Joe Biden because we're running out of time," she said, adding "I have grandchildren. I won't be around to see the worst of it but we have to confront the climate crisis and we have to do it fast."

Jill Biden has previously argued that her husband's age is an asset

Jill Biden has made the case in the past that her husband's advanced age is a plus. "This election is not about age. I mean Donald Trump is going to be 78 and Joe's 81. They're basically the same age," she told the co-hosts of 'The View' last month. "But, it's about character. This election is about character," she added.

Internet users mock Jane Fonda for defending Joe Biden

Netizens chaffed the Hollywood vet after she defended the current US president. One X user tweeted, "It’s Jane Fonda people…like anyone cares!" Another wrote, "Celebrity interference in politics. It's frustrating when public figures weigh in on serious issues without substantial evidence, turning important discussions into partisan spectacle."

"Her best acting in a long time," added one while another chimed in, "How come all the people who defend Biden's sanity are older than he is?" "How would she know?
