WASHINGTON, DC: First Lady Jill Biden has been hitting the campaign trail hard to drum up support for incumbent Joe Biden ahead of the upcoming Presidential election in November.

According to CNN, she is focused on two goals- garnering support for the presumptive Democratic nominee among older voters as well as allaying concerns about his age.

The presumptive primary contenders in the 2024 presidential election, Joe Biden and Donald Trump are the oldest pair to run for the White House in the history of the United States, at ages 81 and 78, respectively. This year, older voters who have typically swayed to the Republican side shifted towards Biden, shared the media network.

Jill Biden's remarks on the age question

Speaking at an event in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Thursday, June 13, the First Lady stated, "This isn’t just about stopping an extremist, and this election is most certainly not about age. Joe and that other guy are essentially the same age. Let’s not be fooled. But what this election is about, it’s about the character of the person leading our country.”

“Joe Biden is a healthy, wise 81-year-old ready and willing to work for you every day to make our future better,” she continued. “Joe isn’t one of the most effective presidents of our lives in spite of his age, but because of it.”

Celebrating her 73rd birthday this month, Jill Biden also highlighted the benefits of growing older, saying, "The woman I am today is wiser, stronger, more insightful and more confident than I was all those years ago. Every line on my face has been earned by the furrowed brows of difficult decisions made. By the sun of countless roads traveled, by the sweet strain of deep laughter with the people I love. Age is a gift.”

She even took the opportunity to further slam former President Trump at the campaign event, mentioning, "Make no mistake, Donald Trump is dangerous to our livelihoods, to our security, and the future of our country."

Internet reacts to Jill Biden's comments

"No one believes that," a user wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) responding to Jill Biden's statements.

"She is enabling him and should be charged with elder abuse," stated another.

"They think they can gaslight us right to our face," commented a third.

"Okay. If she believes that then she belongs in a memory care facility with her husband," quipped a fourth user.

"She does realize we can all see him, doesn't she?" mockingly inquired a fifth.
