SAVELLETRI, ITALY: President Joe Biden scolded a reporter for not "playing by the rules" and asking about a different subject during his press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the G7 summit in Italy on June 13, according to Mediaite.

The President was annoyed at Bloomberg White House reporter Josh Wingrove for asking questions about his discussions in relation to Gaza at the G7 summit. The reporter's off-topic question came up after Biden called on him. It was specified that both country heads would receive questions from only two journalists.

Reporter's question on Gaza irks Biden

Wingrove asked about Biden's assessment of Hamas' response to the peace deal in its war with Israel, his message to the allies, including those present at G7, regarding the Gaza situation, and the US' future actions to reach a peace agreement.

"Wish you guys would play by the rules a little bit," Biden chided the Bloomberg reporter for bringing up the Israel-Hamas conflict, adding. "I'm here to talk about a critical situation in Ukraine. And you ask me another subject."

However, the president said he would be happy to give a detailed answer later and noted that the US had already proposed a peace deal plan in the ongoing war.

"I've laid out an approach that has been endorsed by the UN Security Council, by the G7, by the Israelis. And then the biggest hang-up so far is Hamas refusing to sign on even though they have submitted something similar. Whether or not it comes to fruition remains to be seen. We're going to continue to push. I don't have a final answer for you," the president concluded.

Recently, the Biden administration came up with a comprehensive plan for a six-week immediate ceasefire that includes IDF withdrawal from populated regions and the release of remaining hostages from Hamas.

At the G7 summit, Biden touted its commitment to Ukraine by signing a 10-year bilateral security agreement with Zelenskyy to "strengthen Ukraine's credible defense and deterrence capabilities for the long term," as per ABC News.

However, the octogenarian doubled down against US troops fighting in Ukraine but promised to provide more weapons to resist the Russian invasion.

Internet criticizes Biden's response to the reporter

The internet slammed Biden for chiding the reporter who asked about the Israel-Hamas conference at the G7 summit press conference.

One user wrote, "His handlers need to be convicted and jailed for life." Meanwhile, another remarked, "Pitiful, he can only answer questions if the answer is written down in front of him."

"No functioning capacity to answer questions without written answers in front of him. Shameful," added a third user.

A fourth response read, "He didn’t have a note card for that question! This is another embarrassment, a President who can’t think on his feet and answer a policy question! How dare the press finally do their job!"

Another person said, "The rules being only ask him questions that he has pre scripted answers to - ridiculous."

"How embarrassing is it that the supposed leader of the free world can not answer off the cuff questions. jb is the worst representation that our country has ever had. Sick. Of. Him," someone else opined.

An individual stated, "Wow, so much for freedom of the press. When all their questions have to be ok'ed by Bidens staff before the conference starts!! That's not freedom of the press. A great president can answer any question at anytime period."

Another user added, "And this sorry example of a human being is going to debate Trump??? That's elder abuse!! A reporter dared to ask Biden a question that wasn't prepared for him... Biden snaps: 'I wish you guys would play by the rules a little bit.'"
