PARIS, FRANCE: President Joe Biden promised to work for the release of all hostages from Gaza while celebrating Israel's rescue of four hostages in Hamas captivity.

Biden joined French President Emmanuel Macron in hailing the Israel military's special operation in a joint international press conference on Saturday, June 8, in Paris, where the former was for D-Day's 80th anniversary.

The Israeli military intelligence and special forces and the Israel Defense Forces, in a joint operation in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, rescued Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov, and Shlomi Ziv, who were kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023, from the Nova music festival, according to CNN.

Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron call for ceasefire

"We won't stop working until all the hostages come home and a ceasefire is reached," Biden said, according to The Hill.

"That is essential to happen," the 81-year-old added in his speech, which was less than five minutes long.

Macron, who addressed the media right before his US counterpart, praised the freeing of the hostages and called for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war for "lasting" peace in Gaza.

"We want to achieve an immediate ceasefire and open up the prospect of a political solution, which is the only one that can bring about a fair and lasting peace and meet the security concerns of both people," the French president said in Paris.

Macron also supported the Biden administration's recent "comprehensive" plan for an Israel-led six-week ceasefire that includes withdrawing the IDF from populated regions and releasing all remaining hostages. However, the plan, which is currently under negotiation, was criticized by China and Russia at the UN.

During his France visit, Biden apologized for the "late" delivery of the defense package to Ukraine while promoting the $61 billion package.

Though all four liberated hostages were in good condition as per the Israeli military, the Palestinian officials in Gaza reported that at least 236 people were killed and 400 injured in the Israeli operation.

Internet divided over Joe Biden's vow to bring back all hostages

People online held a divided opinion about Biden's vow to not stop until freeing all hostages while celebrating the Jewish state's rescue operation. While some claimed the president had no role in liberating the four captives, some said he was right.

One user deemed Biden's promise as "More empty words from an empty man."

Another defended the POTUS, writing, "Trump: 'Israel needs to finish the job. And do it quickly' Haley: writes 'finish them!' on bombs headed to Gaza Biden: we are working around the clock for a ceasefire and the release of hostages Bots / Gen Z: Biden is the bad guy here."

"Joe Biden is saying anything now because the Democrat base is torn on Israel/Palestine. If they do implement a ceasefire, the war will be back on after the election once Joe Biden gets your votes. I hope people don’t fall for anything he says," argued a third user.

A fourth response read, "Thanks Biden Take that republicans who think Biden supports Hamas."

Someone else added, "Two faced old man says this because he knows it is the right thing to do, but will lose his spine, and renounce it as soon as the squad reacts."

An individual stated, "At least this one thing he gets right."
