Kamala Harris is expected to reaffirm support for the people of Ukraine

According to the announcement by Harris' office on Monday, June 3, she will be attending the summit in Lucerne on June 15 and will be underscoring the "Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s effort to secure a just and lasting peace, based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the principles of the UN Charter."

National security adviser Jake Sullivan will join Harris in representing the United States at the peace summit in Switzerland.

The Vice President's office stated that Harris will also “reaffirm support for the people of Ukraine as they defend themselves against ongoing Russian aggression."

On the day of the peace summit in Switzerland, Biden will participate in a high-dollar fundraiser with former President Barack Obama.

The fundraiser on June 15 will also include Hollywood actors Julia Roberts and George Clooney, according to The Hill.

Biden's schedule in June is packed with international commitments as he will be in Italy to attend the Group of Seven summit before he travels to Los Angeles for the fundraiser.

Internet slams Joe Biden for not attending Ukraine peace summit

Reacting to Harris' announcement of attending the Ukraine peace summit while Biden chose to attend a Los Angeles fundraiser on the same day, netizens slammed the president's decision.

"I guess she has to do something! Shame Biden can't be there, but better than nothing. Sullivan might even learn something. #slavaukraini from the UK," a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Ah, raising money instead of doing his job," a netizen commented while another user wrote, "If the VP is going, he's not going."

"Without Biden the meeting is a waste of time. He might be old for some, but he is the driver with Blinken and Sullivan. Harris is just a puppet. Has absolutely no clue of how to handle international affairs," a netizen tweeted.
