WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden stated on Wednesday, April 24 that the US would commence sending weapons to Ukraine within "a few hours"

The announcement from the White House comes after the signing of a $95 billion foreign aid package for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.

Joe Biden says signing the foreign aid 'should have been easier'

Highlighting the bipartisan effort that led to legislation, Biden said, "It was a difficult path [to my desk] and should have been easier and it should have gotten there sooner."

"But in the end, we did what America always does: we rose to the moment, came together and we got it done. Now, we need to move fast and we are," he continued.

What is in the foreign aid package for Ukraine passed by Congress?

In the move intended to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities against Russian aggression, the package passed by Congress will provide roughly $61 billion for Ukraine.

The Biden administration had prepared a $1 billion military assistance package for Ukraine, with the first shipment expected to arrive within days of approval while anticipating the passing of the legislation.

On Tuesday, April 23, a US official told ABC that the military aid package includes artillery rounds, armored vehicles, and air defense ammunition.

Internet reacts to Joe Biden's declaration of sending weapons to Ukraine

After Biden signed the foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan and stated that military weapons would be soon sent to Ukraine, netizens reacted to the President's decision.

"Yeah, sure! We will sell another $95B worth of weapons, so the world will become so much safer!" a user wrote on X while another user opined, "Can we just get some healthcare please?"

"Where do we draw the line when we are talking about "safety"?" commented another netizen.

"What’s shocking is the amount of money used to “keep the world safer” yet millions of Americans can’t afford healthcare, college, or homes. Citizens are told there’s no money to help them. But, the world gets help while American citizens suffer. Unreal."
