DALLAS, TEXAS: A security guard working for Representative Jasmine Crockett was killed by police in Dallas earlier this week after being tracked by the Dallas Police Department’s fugitive unit. The person identified as Mike King was reportedly a fugitive wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer.

However, his real name has not yet been disclosed.

King was killed on Wednesday, March 11, night following a confrontation with Dallas police SWAT officers. Reports state that the suspect had hidden inside a car in the parking garage at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, but officers used tear gas to force him out. He pointed a gun at the heavily armed police before being shot dead.

CBS News reported in detail on his alleged crime, which included running “Off Duty Police Services, an online platform connecting North Texas officers with off duty work.” The publication, citing informants, also reported that King had a replica undercover police vehicle, which he drove using old license plates stolen from cars outside a military recruiting office.

Mike King was with Jasmine Crockett during all her major events

Reports indicate that King was part of Crockett’s security team both in Washington, D.C., and in Texas. He also appeared alongside her on the campaign trail during her primary run for the Democratic Senate nomination.

The shocking news came days after Crockett lost to James Talarico, a seminarian and state lawmaker, for the Democratic nomination.

After her defeat, the congresswoman posted on X, “This morning I called James and congratulated him on becoming the Senate nominee. Texas is primed to turn blue, and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person.”

“This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track. With the primary behind us, Democrats must rally around our nominees and win. I’m committed to doing my part and will continue working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot,” she added.

Jasmine Crockett accused of throwing a reporter out of her rally

Also last month, the 44-year-old politician faced scrutiny when she asked her armed security guards to throw The Atlantic staff writer Elaine Godfrey out of her Senate campaign rally for being “a top-notch hater.”

Godfrey described the entire episode in an article she wrote for The Atlantic. “Right before armed guards escorted me from the rally and left me on the edge of a Texas county road, I was informed that I was no longer welcome at an event that I had already attended,” she noted.

The journalist further explained what Crockett’s guard told her: “They just said, ‘Elaine from Atlantic, white girl with a hat and notepad. She’s interviewing people in the crowd. She’s a top-notch hater and will spin. She needs to leave.’”
