PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has extended a formal invitation to former President Donald Trump to visit war-torn Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, the presumptive 2024 Republican nominee has expressed interest in visiting the embattled eastern European nation.

The invitation comes after President Zelensky's much-publicized offer to give a tour of the front lines of the country's conflict with Russia to the 77-year-old former POTUS.

Per the New York Post, the proposed tour would look to provide Trump with a first-hand perspective on the realities of the more than two-year-long conflict, with the hope of leading to increased military aid to Ukraine should Trump reclaim the White House.

What did President Volodymyr Zelensky say regarding Trump’s potential visit?

President Zelensky said in an interview with Axel Springer media outlets, the parent company of Politico, “We conveyed the messages and the context through the appropriate people.”

“We said that we would like Donald Trump to come to Ukraine, see everything with his own eyes and draw his own conclusions. In any case, I am ready to meet him and discuss the issue,” Zelensky claimed.

Former President Donald Trump has asserted that providing additional aid to Ukraine should only be approved if “it is done as a loan".

Additionally, the MAGA strongman has claimed that, if reelected, he would end the conflict “within 24 hours,” but has not provided any details regarding how he intends to achieve this goal.

The Trump campaign has denied a report published by the Washington Post that suggested Trump has been developing a plan that would require Ukraine to cede Crimea and the Donbas region to Russia in exchange for a ceasefire.

President Zelensky has maintained that his country will not surrender any of its land to the invading Russian forces.

“If the deal is that we just give up our territories, and that’s the idea behind it, then it’s a very primitive idea,” the Ukrainian President told Axel Springer media outlets. 

“I need very strong arguments. I don’t need a fantastic idea, I need a real idea, because people’s lives are at stake,” Zelensky added.
