PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump has reportedly expressed his belief that an endorsement from Taylor Swift will not be significant enough to impact incumbent President Joe Biden’s chances of winning the 2024 presidential election.

The 77-year-old GOP presidential frontrunner commented in response to claims that the pop megastar was preparing to endorse his opponent, Joe Biden, and that the Biden campaign team was keen to have her appear on stage with him at a rally.

Despite Biden receiving Swift's endorsement in 2020, Trump maintains that he is “more popular” than the 12-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and is confident of securing a victory in the upcoming November general elections.

Trump’s tiff with Taylor is well-documented

According to an article in Rolling Stone, former US President Donald Trump made comments regarding Taylor Swift's recognition as Time magazine's Person of the Year in December 2023, stating that the accolade should have “obviously” been bestowed upon himself.

A source close to Trump indicated that members of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement were preparing to launch a “holy war” against the 34-year-old pop megastar.

In 2018, Taylor Swift voiced her disapproval of Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn, saying her voting record "appalls and terrifies me".

However, this was a stark contrast to Donald Trump's previous praise for Swift, calling her "fantastic" and "terrific" back in 2012.

Trump was reportedly upset by Swift's remarks regarding Blackburn and retaliated at the time, by saying, “You know, Marsha Blackburn is doing a very good job in Tennessee, she's leading now substantially.”

“She's a tremendous woman,” Trump remarked, adding. “I'm sure Taylor Swift doesn't know anything about her. And let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25 percent less now.”

In recent years, Taylor Swift has shown a growing interest in the political sphere, using her immense influence to encourage voter registration and promote particular candidates.

In particular, her endorsement of Joe Biden during the 2020 presidential election proved highly impactful, and in 2023, a single Instagram post from the 34-year-old singer led to 35,000 new voter registrations.

Moreover, a poll conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies in January this year found that 18 percent of voters reported being “more likely” or “significantly likely” to vote for a candidate endorsed by Swift, according to a report from the DailyMail.

These findings suggest that Swift's endorsement can have a meaningful impact on voter behavior, highlighting the potential influence that celebrities can wield in the political arena.

According to the New York Times’ report from Monday, Swift is on President Biden's “wish lists of potential surrogates".

Conservative commentators expressed concern about the possibility of Swift endorsing Joe Biden once again, leading to a flurry of discussion on the topic on the mainstream and social media platforms.

However, the senior adviser to the Trump campaign, Jason Miller, gave little weight to the significance of a Swift endorsement.

Miller remarked, “Joe Biden might be counting on Taylor Swift to save him, but voters are looking at these sky-high inflation rates and saying, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'.”

Internet mocks Trump for his overstated confidence in himself

People on X questioned former US President Donald Trump's confidence in attracting voters despite Taylor Swift reportedly favoring the incumbent this election year.

One X user remarked: "Swift has several million more followers and she doesn’t ask them for $5 each."

Another user said: "Just shows what a hypocritical, misogynistic bunch of old t*ats MAGA followers are...they'd be screaming blue mu**er if Dem's targeted one of their celebrity endorsers. Apparently free speech and democracy is only for people who agree with them."

Another user wrote: "When you go vote for Biden Talyor Swift fans stop by and register for the draft. Might as well get there first."

One user tweeted: "Who really cares? Show of hands."

Finally, this X user remarked: ">holy war lmao YES."
