WASHINGTON, DC: Several rumors have been circulating that a number of Democratic lawmakers are pressuring their party to postpone the scheduled nomination of Joe Biden because they feel the process is moving too quickly.

According to the New York Times, California Democrat Representative Jared Huffman has written a letter asking for the party's nomination to be postponed until the convention in August. The letter, which raises grave concerns about plans to hold a virtual roll call as early as July 21, is allegedly being distributed to other Democratic lawmakers.

Jared Huffman criticized party's plans to confirm Joe Biden before the Democratic National Convention

Huffman harshly criticized the party's plans to confirm Biden prior to the Democratic National Convention, but he declined to comment on the letter, Fox News reports. "To try to squelch debate and jam this through is a power play of the highest order," Huffman told the New York Times, adding "That kind of heavy-handed move is not going to go over well with a lot of people."

Democrats will officially choose their nominee at the convention

Democrats will formally select their nominee at the convention, but as two Democratic sources previously told Fox News, the DNC is thinking of formally nominating President Biden as early as mid-July. The virtual meeting of the Democratic National Convention's credentials committee on July 21 is a possible date for Biden's nomination.

Democratic Party officials decided that the formal roll call would not take place at their convention, which kicks off on August 19th in Chicago.

A total of 1,976 delegates are needed to clinch the Democratic nomination for president

In order to secure the Democratic nomination for president, 1,976 delegates are required. So far this year, Biden has won about 3,900. By DNC rules, those delegates have "pledged" to back Biden's candidacy. Biden hasn't said that he intends to drop out of the contest, but if he did, his delegates would no longer be committed to him.

Democrats would be able to suggest candidates and cast votes until one gets the support of the majority of delegates in an open convention as a result of his withdrawal.

Internet berates Democrats for their internal conflict concerning Joe Biden

Netizens slammed the Democrats and mocked President Biden as a large number of politicians pressured their party to delay the 81-year-old's nomination. This new development comes a day after Trump was declared as the Presidential nominee for the Republicans at the RNC in Milwaukee.

One X user commented, "They’re shitting themselves now," and another tweeted, "Democrats have nothing to offer the American people." One user remarked, "He needs to stay below a specific # of gaffes to get his doggie treat?" "Good plan. You wait long enough, he'll probably forget that he's running," wrote someone else.
